EBC YELLOW STUFF
 

Anybody used these on the road?
(original yellow not latest type R compound)

Got a brand new set for my AP 4 pots / 330mm disc in the garage and it's tempting to fit them...
Just wondered if anybody had done the same & what they are like.

I've been told by the guys at EBC that yellow stuff pads are for smaller cars. Scoobys and similar size cars should be using redstuff ceramic pads all round.

just got some Red Stuff.

On the box it says (paraphrased)

Greenstuff
for use on fast street or light duty race.
550 degrees

Red stuff
rackday or light rally, also suitable for heavier/faster street cars
750 degrees

Yellow stuff
full race compound for short circuit use
900 degrees

Blue stuff
endurance grade race material
900 degrees

Grahame Goode said the green is for smaller cars, red stuff for Impreza's then yellow and blue for more serious driving.

You have been missinformed!

EBC Technical recommend using Redstuff Ceramic on Impreza Turbo's / EVO's / M3's etc.

Yellowstuff are the next performance compound, which can be used on the cars mentioned above. Depending on the part number depends whether or not the pad is Reg90 approved. Cars built pre 1999, reg90 regulations do not apply.
If the car is 2000 onwards, pads must be Reg90 if used on the public highway.

Bluestuff is an endurance race pad.

Cheers, I know that they are for track use, I just wondered if anyone had tried them on the road?

Wondered what to expect regarding wear and braking (disc I'm mostly bothered about) and if there was much friction when not up to full temp?

Bit late, but thanks for the info buck. I think I may have meant the green stuff pads.

Not tried the old yellowstuff compound as they arent recommended for road use.

Maybe Buck can clarify the differences betweens the old and new compounds?

I have ran green stuff, yellow stuff and going to run blue stuff soon. Currently, im on yellow stuff. The car is mainly autocross and track. The yellow stuff brake pads worked great! The pads' performance life is equivalent or even better than pads that cost more. I have not experienced any issues with braking. I was able to push the car to the max without hesitation...there was no brake fade, no loss of braking power. It took the punishment without question. The yellow stuff is a very streetable pad, the car is not a trailor queen, it is driven to the track.

I ran 18 events; placed in 14 out of the 18; and even won the Central Division Series (NW Indiana SCCA). Going to switch to blue soon and will keep u guys updated on those pads.

Re Redstuff; I honestly don't believe anyone at EBC has used these in an Impreza and I've given them my feedback in the past so should be well aware of their poor performance. Bin them.
