The Koseis are nice, not seen them before. That wheel would look nice sarasquares but not at that size 18" max, what were they called? Seen you in Hoddesdon I think.

sarasquares 25 April 2005 11:57 AM

Sorry personal opinion I know but one word springs to mind CHAV!!!!!!!
These cars are supposed to have motorsport heritage, surely the way the cars look should reflect this..

Just my opinion...................TONY..

Don't get Chrome m8, won't last 2 minutes on a scoob. I've gone through 2 sets of chrome ones in 12 months, unless i'm just unlucky!

OllyK 27 April 2005 10:41 AM

There's a DRM classic with chrome wheels in Loughborough - looks like a chaved up Nova.

Hol 27 April 2005 11:10 AM

I had Black Chrome P1 alloys on mine, a kind of Chrome anthracite. :D

It really suited the silver.

Not everyone wants to follow the crowd and put superlegaras
on, some people want a bit of individuality. Do these still not look sporty??

If someone can photoshop these onto a silver classic and show that they look bad then I will be convinced that chrome is not the way to go.

messiah 27 April 2005 03:29 PM

I heard Chrome is a :nono: in the UK - salt on the roads just eats it in about 6 months...

The chrome P1 alloys look pretty good but I think the others look way to "Chav" - apologies for using the C word but nothing else describes them better...

WRXtra power 27 April 2005 07:44 PM

Yes salt is a problem, IF YOU DONT CLEAN THEM! But for some strange reason chrome grills and trim seem to survive the harsh actions of the salt. This nonsense about chrome wheels not standing the test of time is down to the way the owner looks after them. Keep on top of them and your fine, neglect them and you will only have yourself to blame. I have had them before and if anything they were easier to clean.

I wanted silver with a mirror polished alloy outer edge. My refurbisher told me not to as there is only one layer of protection, namely the lacquer, on polished rims. It is that finish that bubbles up when you get a scrath as it just the alloy underneath.

The chrome finish is actually a paint and has an undercoat and laquer etc, just like any other colour. To get the slightly more muted 'Black Chrome' he paints the same paint onto a Black base coat, intsead of a silver base. They are still bright, but not sunglasses bright.

I found some other pictures to show what I mean:

Including one with a kerb, that had lasted a year before this pic was taken!

RMA26 04 September 2006 11:25 AM

Not to my taste, takes the focus away from the car IMHO

holy ****...youd cut the hand off yourself cleaning them badboys..youve just been pimped....

V4JDMSTi 04 September 2006 01:25 PM

the black chrome ones on the silver classic don't look too bad. but if you was thinking of full chrome then give yourself a slap around the face and tell yourself to pull it together. then go and buy some wheels that are fit for putting on a car.

kittle 04 September 2006 03:27 PM

i love the response the chrome wheels give, they certainly are different which i thnk is a rarity in the subaru scene at the moment seing how everyone want the same spoiler, the same skirts, similar wheels, the same lights, etc. Best subaru i have seen in ages was at trax on show this weekend. It did have a whopping 20k body shop bill but was ladened with gorgeous imported bodywork and carbon, much better! plus its amusing taking stick from avid impreza lovers. The best are the ones who wear full impreza pit clothing and complain how they were not intended to have chromes on....coming from genrally a middle aged man who is scared to take his wrx above 80 i find that very amusing.

Team Dynamics

I got some Pro Race 1 alloys and the finish was brilliant, think it was called Hi-Power silver and it looked cool - seemed to change from shiny to not so shiny depending on the light.
This was admittedly for a DBM saloon and looked great (until I kerbed one  ).
I was actually looking for something similar to the anthracite P1 wheels at the time, OZ superleggeras but they were far too expensive.
The added benefit of these was that when you got loads of brake dust on them they still looked good!:thumb: :thumb:

If I knew how to post pics then I would...

Well spotted :thumb:

The car is long gone now, but in the three years I owned it, only one person at the countless national meets I went to, ever noticed! :D

They were only made up, cos I could not get replacement P1 decals.

spoiltboy 04 September 2006 09:54 PM

sorry do not put bling alloy on a scooby mate
