I have just replaced the bushes on my 20mm A/R bar with powerflex ones, and found that there was a fair bit of wear on the plastic drop links, making the new bushes a sloppy fit. Does anyone know where I can get steel drop links [ apart from Australia] , anyone importing them, or does anyone have any standard ones they want to sell? Cheers all, Mark |
Mark,
I'm not able to help, but maybe you could advise me. How easy is it to change the AR bushes? Could you drop me an email with a quick dummy guide? Cheers. pilch |
Pilch, having trouble sending you an E-mail for some reason, so heres it direct.
Hi Phil, when you look underneath its pretty self explanatory. The bar in bolted to the underside of the car in 2 places. These are simply unbolted. At these 2 points are 2 bushes, which you simply pull off the A/R bar and replace with the new ones. The other connections are the drop links [ the u-shaped plastic items] at each end of the bar. These again are a simple un-bolt job. The only problem is that these bushes are sort of moulded in and need to be cut out. This is not a huge problem. The Powerflex ones that go in their place are a 2-part bush with a stainless steel insert, which go in very easily. my problem is that over the 50-odd thousand miles my car has done, is that the holes these bushes fit into on the plastic link have elongated through wear and tear the the bush does'nt sit as snuggly as it should. All in all it's a pretty simple job, just remember to use the copaslip grease provided to lubricate the bush. Hope this helps, Regards, Mark |
Howdy..
AR bars are dead easy to change... fitting new bushes is even easier.. I have a set of plastic links (complete with powerflex bushes) in the workshop somewhere. I also have the uprated spring steel links for the front too (complete with bushes).. Now where did I put those... *scratches his head*. J. |
