I dont understand
I have been on the look out for a new car ,,, ive already had a uk turbo,94wrx and a sti typr r v5.......so i wanted a change,, allsorts was going through my head nissan pulsars,, rx7s ,,skylines,,mazda gtr.s ,, i even thought about early evos (u may have seen my early evo early scoob thread a couple of weeks ago)
U may be thinking why did he have an sti type r and hes now thinking ov pulsars etc,,, well,,, i just wanted a change. But in the end after many hours ov research i have come to the conclusion that nothing beats a scoob pound for pound in the jap tubo department,, so i started to look about for a nice scoob for the summer either a p1 or sti 5 type r.. And i am puzzled,,, why are S-T reg type r.s going for the same price as the P1.s ? I have contacted Newera imports/J.s garage/Rexis ....loads of importers and they are talking more money for a v5 type r than what i paid for mine a year and a half ago. It seems that with £13000cash i can get a a damn good P1 on an x reg I cant import a decent s reg V5type r on the road in england for £13000 What is going on? |
also bear in mind that u can't register a v5 type r here either.

I see all these imports in import specialists and must admit that they are overpriced. The P1 is very special, sare and most importantly a UK car. I bought my RB5 about 2 months ago and when I compare the price of it to normal turbo's I wince but I love the exclusivity. Personally if I had 13 grand right now I would strongly consider the P1 but I know I would be very tempted by new shape models or even an evo VI or VII if i could find one. Then there are all the BMWs around for that price. If you love the japanese cars then P1 it would be simply stunning. AND remember they were only officially 280 horse (aprox) I know that unofficially they were a lot more:)

I think its because there is a finite supply of Type-R's and a strong demand so 'enterprising' dealers are rising their prices and anticipating a couple of extra weeks in Marbella at your expense..... :)

I dont really think this high price tag on type r.s is anything to do with how hard it is to register them,,,
Every other car seems to be depreciating in accordance as normal eg P1 now can be got for £13000 an evo 7 import or uk can be got for £13000 an evo 6 import or uk can be got for £10500 a Honda s2000 import can be got for £10000.. So why are sti type r,s not budging in price, all the cars above cost more than a v5 type r brand new.... U try and find an sti type r v5 with say 25k on the clock for less than £14000.. i know of an evo 8 for sale near me with 50k motorway miles for only a couple of grand more than that. Its crazy ... I paid £10500 for my v5 type r a year and a half ago and sold it for the same 6 months later ,,, in silver with 45k on the clock when i sold it.. Back when i got my type r there was a 10 grand difference between that and a P1 now there is a couple of grand difference... if that... Please someone shed some light on the situation.. |

Theres a Model Report available for the cars that you mention so theyll depreciate more heavily as further cars are imported; registered and offered for sale. There arent any Model Reports for two door Impreza models so the supply is limited. This certainly explains why their residuals are so strong compared to similar four door cars.

thast good info GC8.
But it makes me think if the type r is high in valaue shouldnt the P1 be more by a few grand as they were limited in numbers. there must have been hundreds if type r's bought over here during the release of the 22b and type r's up until know? Its only know that importing has stopped of classic sti's. So why the same value for both, do people see it as a type r with just splitter and spoiler of course i would understand if the valaue is the same if it was sti5 v limited type r though. |

although myself and marcy have had our differences on here, i find this thread interesting and may shed some light on this thread as i have been trying to sell a type R on here for a couple of months. now that i am reducing my price, i am un-indated with "traders" offering me a value for my car.
It is obviously a supply and demand situation, there are lots of P1's with varying levels of warranty coverage. they were limited in release but there are lots and lots of them, all Blue. Some have warranty (holding their value) and some without (depreciating fast) so its a sellers market for the low milage with warranty and a buyers market for the non-warranty high miler! now look at the Type R, a supposed increase in spec over the P1. DCCD, gearing etc etc and possibly less of them over here than the P1. If you bear in mind that even with the considered weak engine on our fuel (P1's went bang too) the Type R is considered as the purists Scooby (bar the 22B) and therefore possibly the best to sell on. therefore the gap is closing between a P1 and a good TypeR. My gauge on the scooby models in terms of desirability:- 22B P1 with warranty P1 without warranty Type R V6 Type R V5 Sti5 Type R V4 and therefore the values are following suit. Find an imported TypeR with over 10k UK miles without a rebuild. I have recently had at least 10 traders offer me 9.5k for mine, telling me i will never sell it over 10k, however there are so many offering me the cash for it i can only assume that they could sell it on for 11 instantly. check any of the import dealers and they are offering 13k to 14k for a low miler V5. it only leaves me to summarise that the TypeR is definately becoming a collectors car and will eventually overtake the P1 in terms of price. |

TypeRA Limited Elecy windows, mirrors (glass and open/close) and central locking Climate Control SWRT blue alcantara seats Blue centre console Blue dash facia WRX pedal extensions STi4 spoiler (now a V6 one) STI Gold wheels (now 18" speedline) Probably not a lightweight as it should be now :D |

Sorry about the posts on ure thread the other week,, I would actually go as far as to say that ure type r v5 is the cheapest in the country a the minute.. I even thought about making u an offer the other day but i didnt want to eat my own hat ,, so to speak:) |
hey marcy, no worries, no harm done. you are more than welcome to make an offer, altough saying that it does have a lot of interest at the mo and i dont expect it last many more weeks at that price.
