Anyone Insured a rally car?
 

As per title, the best quote I can get for the 205 is 700 odd quid for the year :cuckoo:

completely nuts since I only want insurance for driving the few miles between stages.

Any advice?

If thats the case then why not pay the £26 or so per event for cover as provided by events?

If you want full road cover (normally 1000 miles pa) on TP or TPFT including road section cover during events then speak to Competition car Insurance - otherwise known as Egger Lawson on 0115 941 5255 or Dave Auden Associates (sorry no number)

I thought that £26 was insurance against me killing spectators :nono: That actually covers the road miles as well?

The £26 (if with Alexanda Forbes) covers you for 3rd party cover to meet RTA requirements on the road sections of stage rallies. Its optional as some people already have other cover in place.

It covers you from the start of the event to the finish of the event. It does not cover you for driving to and from scrutineering or to the start / from the finish so you would need to trailer the car to the start and from the finish.

Any events using the Forbes insurance scheme (or others like Bradstock or Bowring) will have details in the event regulations which you would be well advised to read.

Each event pays a £35 or so permit fee per competitor which includes liability insurance for each competitor and is compulsory and always included in the event entry fee.

Yep.

Insured mine because i wanted to be able to run items in, brakes, engine etc. also taxing the car comes into it !

Cheers guys, this works out well. My co-driver is insured on the car given his job, I only wanted insurance for road miles.
