Still trying to find the cause of squealing brakes (front)...has anybody got some standard pads (in good condition!) that they no longer need due to upgrades etc. Thought I would try this option rather than spend £88 to find new ones are the same. I have only covered 7000 miles and the pads are hardly worn.

Thanks,

.Richard

Richard

I have some worn MY97 standard pads if they would be of any use as I am not sure if they are the same as the 98 but I think they are.

I've got some part worn 98 front pads. Give me a ring and I'll drop them in for you. I suspect that the ones you are using are Mintex 1155.

Davie,

I too get the same grumbling noise, and have had since new. It only happens under heavy braking, or when the brakes are cold sometimes.

My discs have what looks like hundreds of very fine hairline cracks (surface only) on them. Car still stops OK, and dealer has checked them and said all is well, so I've just got used to the noise.

I have a spare set of discs & pads (thanks Neil http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif), which I'm going to fit next weekend (or earlier), as I think my pads are now getting close to the end of their life.

Hi Guys,
I too have a problem with noisy brakes, But not squealing rather a loud grumbling. The pads are only a few months old and have plenty life left and the discs look okay.
The grumbling is only noticeable when braking from high speed.
I don't know if it's the discs or the pads or if the pads need de-glazed.
So if anyone has old pads for a late MY97 or MY98, I could rule one out of the equation.
Thanks Davy
