H&R Springs Are On *A Few More Pics Added*
Hi Gang,
Just a quick thread and a Couple of pictures showing my new H&R Springs fitted, next time I clean the car I'll take some more new ones to show them properly. I just want to thank a few people for their help and advice in helping me choose the H&R Springs. Firstly.... Carl Davey, RS Grant and ScoobyChris Who all run them and took some time out to answer several of my questions !! Ok more than a few I'll admit :) as the springs are advertised as a 50mm drop I needed plenty of research before the final decision :D Thanks to Gordon from http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/ for suppling them to me... very helpfull indeed. Finally a big :thumb: to http://www.powerstation.org.uk/ for fitting them, Nick looked after the job for me and did a really good one at that, Spring fitment, bumpsteer and alignment also rear alloy drop links... not a bad mornings work and a lighter pocket lol Great new premises and well worth a trip to see thanks gents :luxhello: Right I took some before and after measurments just to see how different things were going to measure up...... From the top centre of the front wheel arch to the floor before it was 650mm and the rear was 645mm..... After fitment they measure front 630mm and rear 625mm... This works out to a 20mm drop all around and I do expect a few more mm in the next few weeks when they settle down.... so I expect it to be around a 25-30mm drop in the end. It looks identical in ride height to mine. ;)
Nice to see how much they actually drop the car by. I think the quoted 50mm is actually on a standard non-turbo Impreza? Assuming that it would explain the lower-than-quoted drop due to the turbos (standard) lower ride-height. Need some pictures from further away Simon. :cool: |

I have come to the same conclusion about this drop height figures... it would fall about right in this instance I imagine. I'll try and get some distance pictures tomorrow.... it got a little late today and we had quite a thunderstorm which stopped me. A lower profile tyre is needed now :idea: I need a lotto win !!!! |

Taking the tape measure out to it the night before proved to be a good exercise in how much the springs do make a difference. The car suits a lower stance for sure :cool: Simon :) |

Maybe get the tape out on those Teins you have fitted Si it will be interesting to see the comparison.. that's assuming the rear wheel arch on the Type R is the same height as on mine ?? Excellent colour btw ;) Ashley First impressions are very good on both, the handling has really improved it's positive and no wandering at all, with the geomitry all set up it makes an incredible difference... I've not had chance to push it hard as yet as I just want everything to settle first and also for me to get used to it. The ride is very comfortable, not to harsh over the bumps as you may expect for the drop.... the springs just seem to soak them up nicely. I have speed bumps in my street and the car goes over them with no problem at all... I have now slowed right down as you do feel the car being quite firm over them. Another DBM owner here - with the same mods planned as you by the looks of it!
Already got the side skirts coded (why did you not do the rear corners?) and splash gaurds this week hopefully - WRX alloys also but soon to be replaced by 02 STI alloys :norty: and an STI6 splitter on the cards. Lowering is also on the list, have mostly been looking at Eibachs but not convinced they'll give me the drop I'm looking for. Car looks superb on those springs - will be interested to hear if the height gets any lower when they've had time to settle. Do you have any problems with rubbing on the arches? :notworthy - love it. |

Those rears would not come off !!! I removed the sides and did not have the splitter fitted at the time... they were sprayed off the car, but I have the car booked in for some scrapes from the previous owner on the front bumper to be sprayed so I will get those rears painted then.... if anything it really shows the difference up between having the colour coding and not even on a darker colour car. The springs are very comfortable,to be honest I was expecting them to be firmer than they are... very pleased with them indeed. No rubbing at all with my 17" wheels. I don't know where these firms get their drop figures from. I am assuming that it is against the most basic model as a guide ? standard gl n/a maybe ? H&R springs are the way to go, had them on my last scooby version 5 and have them on my version 7, good low ride, no rubbing, less harsh than the STi springs also.

SSS - I know what you mean about the rear corner splitters - a nightmare to get off, I managed to get 1 clip off and gave in, so they were done on the car eventually. I was a bit concerned about how much of a difference it would make to a dark car too, but it's certainly worth it - I think I'd even get it done on a black car.
Who does the H&R springs and how much? Have also been looking at the MRT 30 & 50mm drop from Jap Innovations - anyone any experience (or pics) of these? |

Gordon is based up in Scotland and H&R springs are from Germany and it took a few weeks to actually get hold of them but well worth the wait. They retail at £169.... so fall in the same range as Eibachs ;) I don't know anything about MRT springs myself. Simon :) |
