sti 3?

just found a great insurance quote on an sti 3! :D but i need a little info from the guys in the know! :)

i used to own a MY98 wrx and am not sure what extra the difference is????

any problems like the 98 cars, maff sensor, piston slap etc???

just gotta get rid of my 206 gti now!!!!!

thanks for any info/help guys! :)

Piston slap - yes. I've had an STi3 for 6 yrs now, I can detect a very slight knock as the engine warms but nothing near enough to do anything about it. Had it since 10k miles, now approx 45k miles as the biggest failure has been the battery...
Some early v3's had the 2 pot front calipers - worth checking this.

p.s never driven a WRX so can't give a comparison. Did test a PPP'd UK 98 car at the same time and it was very tame in comparison. V3 has wildest cams and therefore biggest kick when turbo cuts in. Standard STI suspension is supposed to be pretty firm but mine has Bilsteins so can't confirm this.
V3 0-60 is 4.7 secs if I remember correctly, WRX is probably about 5.5 secs.

First of all, who was the quote from?

No problems with my MY97 STI, November 96 model and does have 4 pots, I think all the genuine V3's did. Still goes like it should, no problems to date, regular oil changes and it's up to 120,000 miles! As said above, 0-60 in 4.6/4.7 secs and a 4 door family saloon! If you do decide to get one, by all means PM me for any info you need.
