Metallic Rattle
 

At around 3K RPM theres an annoying rattle coming from my 94WRX(75kmiles).

It runs fine, no problems. It only happes under light acceleration and last for a second or two, if you floor it it doesnt seem to happen.

Had a quick check at the turbo heatshield from the top and seems to be tight, any other heat shields to look for or any other ideas?

yes any of the heat shields can set up an anoying rattle when its cold just check and see which ones are loose or if you have asbestose hands do it when its hot ;)

Check the brake pipes where they run against the bulkhead above the downpipe area.


Mine rattled away and drove me crazy for weeks - wedged a bit of old mouse mat behind them - sorted

It totally disappears when the car heats up, and tonight after the car had been running for a while and had heated up(was on idle for a while, fan came on twice) it came back? Then... after run for a bit and cooled down, disappeared!

Worried it may be big end :S

Anyone else?
