It may be one word against another

Rooney may have settled 'out-of-court' (if u know what i mean)

There may be conflicting evidence

The student may have been assaulted, but it can't be proven that it was Rooney

Student may be un-willing to attend court

etc etc

all of which may have persuaded him not to proceed

Rooney may not have hit him in the first place.

Once witnesses came forward to testify that this was the case the opportunist complainer may have decided not to proceed....

Ha ha not sure about the statement I made, I was simply making the point that all the other suggestions listed suggested he was guilty but it couldn't be proved.

I was just making the point that perhaps it was a load of bullsh*t in the first place and once a proper investigation was lauched this became clear.

My Mates, one of which is sat next to me now, were stood right next to Rooney when the alleged incident happened, Apparently Rooney Lunged forward , but there wasn't any apparent punches, then ferdinand and Carroll pulled him away.

well listening to the radio last week I heard that the landlord of the pub said the guy who made the complaint at rooney was full of bull. aparently he was screaming at rooney calling him judas etc and pushing him. the guy said rooney did well not to react to it.... he said there was a scuffle but it was between a couple of other guys in the bar with him.... so it sounds to me thats why rooney has walked away unscathed.....

Sounds like witness of the independent variety then. I thought I'd heard something like that.

astraboy 30 March 2005 01:58 PM

the student in question was supposed to have given him a load of verbal abuse, calling him a judas and a disgrace to the (presumably Everton)shirt. That in itself could have been seen as threatening behaviour, and then tops it off with a made up story that Rooney hit him 3 times!!!

What a tosspot and a chancer - probably thought he'd earn himself a few quid out of it, one way or another.

And for all those such as Felix who came out with such a well-balanced view of things......I guess you wouldn't be saying that if it was some unknown footballer from Div 1, or a non man utd player, but hey, it's Rooney, so he's probably guilty, and fair game even if he isn't!!
