HKS SSQV BOV and recirc fitting

Hello all. I am thinking of fitting a HKS BOV to my o4 STI . I am aware of the problems of venting to the atmosphere and thus getting a wrong fuel/air ratio since the maf has already calculated the air will be venting in the atmosphere etc....
Nevertheless I noticed at J&W racing website a "recirc fittting" that vents excess air back into the intake preventing fuel/air ratio problems etc..
My questions are therefore :
1) If this hks recirc fitting is intalled then there won't be any nice whoosh sound heard :)
2) Do I really need a programmable ecu like a link to be safe to use a BOV with the STI? (I do want one -don't fancy this recirculating dv's and crappy maf sensors thing)
Thank you in adavance for your answers
