thump!

A short while back I started getting a double thump sound during reversing on full lock. I now sometimes get a thump sound when I brake to a standstill or reverse and brake to a standstill, when manoeuvring the car. The thump happens just as the car comes to a rest.

Any thoughts on what's wrong? I don't think the brake pistons are sticking.

Thanks

David

I had a problem on my old MY94WRX in that when it got hot during a motorway run, attempting to go full lock forwards or backwards to park the car afterwards resulted in a loud thump that could be felt through the car. It turned out to be the center diff.

Uh oh. I'll have to hope this isn't the trouble. Does that mean replacing the gearbox?

The diff was replaced in my gearbox, the noise you hear when coming to a stop though makes me think that it isnt diff related. On my car it only happened when the car/gearbox was hot after a run and anything close to full lock was applied. Your car hasnt been towed without a flat bed or had different sized wheels front to back at any time has it?.
