tips for the Masters

Kenny Perry
Vijay Singh

outside bet,Harrington

really outside bet,Couples

don't be stupid outside bet,Justin Rose

don't be frigging stupid outside bet,Seve

messiah 21 March 2005 11:29 AM

Woods I reckon.

Will be out to prove a point after regaining the No.1 slot.

Wouldn't rule out Mickelson again though - and Els will go close again...

Funkii Munkii 21 March 2005 12:55 PM

Gotta go with the big 4

Ernie
Vejay
Tiger
Phil

Harrington is a good e/w bet as mentioned above.

pauld37 21 March 2005 01:23 PM

I think Chelsea will win :p .

Sorry, :) being a bit silly.
Woods certainly looks back to somewhere near his best and will take some beating.
Seve has pulled out with a bad back apparently, so don't bet on him :)

messiah 21 March 2005 02:39 PM

Vijay might struggle - had to find a new caddie after his old one told him go f*** himself. Apparently Vijay never said "thanks" once in 2 years... ungrateful sod.

A small price to pay I would of thought considering his caddie was earning probably 10% of Vijays earnings, which last year was $10 million, plus bonus', plus endorsements :cuckoo: .
I'd certainly put up with the ungrateful sod for that :D

Outsiders worth a bet (assuming they're playing ;) )

Luke Donald
Adam Scott

Ted Maul 22 March 2005 12:36 PM

any of the top 4, although it's all about the price you get. Woods will start at 3-1, which is far too short in my opinion, considering his form in the bay hill last week. Vijay, Els and Phil will all be around 8 or 9-1 and this is fair value, although els has hurt his shoulder - thats why he did nothing last week in the bay hill.

more outside bets? sergio is getting a bit of form and his games suits augusta. dont bet unless you get at least 28-1 though. Luke Donald is a no no for me, much more suited to a US open style course.

My 2 tips are: Retief goosen if you can get 16-1 or better, and Paul Casey, who hits it very long, draws the ball, great putter, perfect for Augusta, and he did finish 6th last year. should get at least 80-1 for him so go each way.

chad campbell looks like he's getting some of last seasons form back, so maybe, and a really really outside bet would be pat perez..(if he qualifies)

ps - I do a lot of golf betting...

Betfair ??

Just can't get into it myself but one of my mates who is well into his golf, i.e.watches every live event on Sky whilst hooked up to his Betfair, buying laying, I wish I had the time for it I'm sure I could earn a bit more than I do on Corals.

Good info though Ted, obviously not a clueless Gooner :)

messiah 23 March 2005 11:17 AM

hmm - think I might go for a quid or 2 on Casey... ;)

Ted Maul 23 March 2005 12:45 PM

yeah, loads of backing and laying..I do the same as your mate, watch on sky and bet. Tell him to join the pgatour.com tourcast so you get real time action when its not on tv.

best thing about betfair for me is backing people who I know are coming into form (through magazines, websites etc etc, and getting 500-1, then they have a couple of decent rounds, placed around 10th/20th in the tournament at the cut and there price moves down to say 50-1, lay the bet, secure the profit..
they'll never win the thing, but betfair allows you to play around...

never bet with anyone else now, except for some footy accumulators where betfair doesn't do this.

ps - never back the gooners, but do put bets on for man u to win, it's called emotional hedging ;)

;) already do it, we call it bokking (sp?) backed arsenal to win everything the year we won the treb, even on the last day of the season wen you were playing Villa at home and we had Spurs I still backed the Gooners to win the league at 4/1 LOL Good old Andy Cole. Man 6 years ago!!!!

big rumours on the US boards that Mickelson has big gambling and personal problems at the moment

oh and apparently he part-owns Ebay

I still reckon Padraig and Kenny Perry will fight for it

messiah 24 March 2005 10:16 AM

Padraig in 2 minds about entering - his dads in hospital with cancer at the moment.

He has always liked a punt though, I like his style, just takes time off whenever he feels like it to spend time with his family and punt, because he can :) then comes back winning his 1st tourno at 8's, didn't know he part owned e-bay though.

Great to see Lee Westwood doing so well at Sawgrass, it will be interesting to see how he does over the next 3 days, could be another outsider for the Masters.

True, so true :lol1:

Anyway, I was looking at outsiders, not yer cast-irons certs... ;)

messiah 11 April 2005 02:08 PM

Glad to see Luke Donald do well - would have been interesting if he'd not had that bad round - 2 eagles on the back 9 would have made the leader's a bit twitchy...

LMAO @ Poulter - what a shanker! :D did well to come back after those...

Agreed, but the best shot he played during the week (IMHO) was the little chip in the 2nd round. Played with a full swing just off the green, the ball travelled 20 yards and span back! :eek2:
