ToCA Race Driver 3

Sounding and looking good. The story mode will keep me playing for longer than GT4 could.

So what's new for TRD3? Where to start? How about Williams? The legendary Grand Prix team have allowed us unprecedented access to their cars, so in the course of a TRD3 career, you'll get to drive Williams cars from three decades.
What else? Well, there's the wonderfully varied grid of the British GT championship, where you can see front-engined TVRs and Vauxhalls battling it out with mid-engined Moslers and Nobles. Both the cup class and N-GT class are represented.

Long-time series favourites, the brutish grunt of the Aussie V8 Supercars and extreme looking cars of the DTM are back, with fully updated team and car rosters for both series, reflecting the 2005 season.

If you like your racing cars a little older, then we've got Grand Prix cars from the 30s, 50s, and 60s to play with, endurance racers from the 70s, plus some classic racers of the American "pony car" era.

The physics engine has been revamped, with the intention of making you, the player, feel more connected to where the action is happening where rubber meets road (or gravel, or mud). The signature damage system has been upgraded again, and now every car component has a weight, and an aerodynamic effect. In addition to the damage sustained from collisions, the cars in ToCA Race Driver 3 can change during a race as fuel burns, tyres warm up, then wear out, the engine warms up, and if the radiator gets blocked or damaged, will slowly overheat.

If you still want the instant thrills of the Race Driver series, that's still there in World Tour mode, where you'll work your way through lots of championships and cars in a quick-fire, no-waiting manner. Or, if you want to go in depth, with optional full length races and qualifying, pick the Pro Career mode. Choose a path in Oval racing, Rallying, Touring Cars, GT and Endurance, Historic Racing, and Open-Wheel, and work your way to the pinnacle of your chosen field of motorsport, whatever that may be.
