WRX - circa 1998 - 2000. Faults to look for?

Sorry - I'm a total newbie to the Subaru world. I currently run A Rover Tomcat which is up for sale. I already have around 7k cash to play with and have been seriously condsidering a Nissan 200sx - (last model) mainly cos they are rare as rockin horse poo...

I'm struggling to find a truly decent 200sx, so I'm turning my attention to a WRX instead.

I'm aware that oil and filter changes every 3-4k are worth looking for in a second hand motor.
Also that he un-modded cars are more likely to have less strain on the engine (unless modded by the pros).
Geometry tracking to resolve steering-pull im also aware of.

As a total begineer to the WRX, what other important things do i need to look for in a *standard* UK car?

Thoughts appreciated
