Looking for multi piece rotor with true float
 

Hello all,

I am looking for the following rotor:

-Fit under 16" wheels,
-have seperate hat and rotor that allows for free radial growth of the rotor.
- Fit production subaru calipers, or other high spec calipers (preferably without Brembo style prices). Could be the sliding version we in the US got saddled with, or could be the worldwide 4 piston unit from Subaru.

This would exclude things like the DBAs, which I believe are bolted solidly toghether. This may be best for rally and use in grungy environments, but I'm solely on the street or track.

It would include things like the StopTech rotors or Stasis rotors, except they don't offer a 16" version. And the slanted rotor hat they use for the 17s would preclude having the rotor turned down to proper diameter for 16"

I have done some searching and haven't found anything that fits the bill. Can anyone point me to a solution? It seemed like folks in the UK were a little more willing to use 16" wheels, and I hope there are some well sorted brake upgrades you have developed. Plus you've had this line of cars a lot longer than we.

I would consider a rotor with a "j groove" between the hat and rotor (not a square profile) designed to minimize coning under high heat.

Would also consider a 17" rotor designed to use either stock subaru caliper by way of an extra mounting bracket to space it out correctly.

Anyone got any websites I can peruse to satisfy my desire for a little better stopping?

Ian produce's a kit using separate bell and disc for 17" wheels using original 4pot calipers and larger pads.

Thanks. I checked out his site and they look pretty nice. Who has the Godspeed rotors? Is the bolted joint slotted so that under heat the rotor can grow away from the bell radially, with minimal restriction?

I do like the fact I could reuse the Subie 4-pot caliper.

Also it appears he could make some rotors to fit under 16", given the design of his bell.

Last bump. It appears the big wheel trend has taken Britain by storm too. Not that they don't have benefits.

Certainly some of you WRX rallyists that are running 16" wheels must have some hi-zoot brakes.

If I open things up to using other calipers like Brembo or AP or KAD (any good?) does that then open the floodgates to a lot of choices in 16" hardware?

Godspeed do a disc and bell set up to replace the standard discs , there are 2 options , a standard thickness discs , and a thicker 28mm discs more suitable for trackdays as they can take more heat , the thicker discs also come with caliper spacers which fit in the middle of the calipers to widen them , email them on ian@godspeedbrakes.co.uk
