I'm afraid I'm in the 10% of people who have no idea what you are banging on about. :D

I gather from your second link that Initial D is anime. Not sure that 90% of SN are anime fans... :)

I'm another Yorkshireman, and I don't know either....

Maybe the full 10% lives in God's own county....:D

suprabeast 15 March 2005 08:20 AM

I'm not from yorkshire, but i feel the quantity of people not knowing what you are talking about is rising!

Obviously the signs of modern day society!

Scoobychick 15 March 2005 08:29 AM

I'm from Yorkshire (although a southerner by birth) and I have no idea what you're on about either :D

David Lock 15 March 2005 09:01 AM

10% club here.........

ajm 15 March 2005 09:04 AM

Never heard of it.... neither am I from Yorkshire ;)

I thought anime was the preserve of adolescents and computer game geeks? :D

Dream Weaver 15 March 2005 09:10 AM

Lancs, and once played an online drifting game called Initial D, but other than that clueless :D

If it makes you feel any better I know what you're talking about. Our company is currently doing the post production on this film - editing, colour correction and special effects. Some of the driving scenes are pretty impressive. I've seen bits of the cartoon before but anime is not really my thing. The live action version is much better!

fast bloke 15 March 2005 09:22 AM

yep - count me in the 10%

PG 15 March 2005 09:24 AM

ajm 15 March 2005 09:26 AM

LOL! Looks like you are in the minority wwp8 :D

wwp8 15 March 2005 09:30 AM

btw, i am a born londoner. only moved here in 2002

now thats sorted.

initial d, is about a 17/18 year old japanese "tofu" delivery boy, who drives his dad's AE86,
accross the mountains (bends and all sorts)
each village/town, there is a team , a racing team,
and they all challenge each other.
one day he got involved with his local team, and they all need his help to save their poor reputation.
the anime graphics etc is absolutely cool.
if i know how to upload an episode/scene i would do it.

:(

damian666 15 March 2005 09:31 AM

I love initial D.

Still ache for an AE86 (although an 85 would be OK.....) ^_^

Dr Hu 15 March 2005 09:35 AM

So to re-phrase this thread wwp8 - around 90% of people on here DON'T know what InitialD is.........me included:)

Harry_Boy 15 March 2005 09:35 AM

astraboy 15 March 2005 10:28 AM

Its not just a cartoon. Its a fuking awesome Cartoon!
Seriously, its my life in cartoon form:D
Everything is totally authentic, from the way the cars move, drift and handle, to the music which is remakably similar to the music I listen to when i go out for a tickle :)

Trivia for
Initial D (2005)
Three new Toyota AE86 Sprinter Truenos, a car out of production since 1987, were especially built by Toyota for the film.
Oh. My. God.
astraboy.

astraboy 15 March 2005 10:52 AM

as well as that, i've just found out the race locations such as Mt. Akina pass ACTUALLY exists and is regularly used by drift racers.
http://gallery.tsukaeru.jp/haruna/haruna-p1.jpg
As well as that, there is a "Gentlemens agreement" with the local police where if the racers stick to the early hours, they are not bothered by law enforcement.
I'm moving, thats all there is to it.
astraboy.

Yes, as I have it running on my UK PS2....

You need a HDD, a BB adapter, a copy of winhiip (for the PS2) and hdloader \ hdadvance for the PS2.

(oh and it needs to be an old "large" PS2)
