Another 17inch wheel Q

Hi all, Just got a set of 04 impreza wheels, im putting them on a MY96 WRX, just to Clarify a few things- from what ive read i will only get away with 215/40/17 and not 215/45/17 is that the general concensous accross t board?? or do peeps still scrub the tyres with 40's?
Also need to get a set of 4 tyres this weekend coming so any advice on tyres would be appreciated also any decently priced places around the Andover, salisbury, Soton areas - Used to use Haydon tyres at Cadnam.

Cheers Gray

Micheldever Tyres are very close to Andover and as cheap as anywhere, also very professional (01962) 774437. Don't buy without getting a quote from them first. it's usually worth me spending £30 or so on juice to get there.

Goodyear F1 GSD3s work extremely well on classics from my experience, amongst others people rate. If they feel a little soft try upping the pressures up to 10%. I've bought nothing else for at least 4 or more sets now.

215/40 17s shouldn't be any problem at all and are the right size. 45's are not too far off the right size and should be ok unless you've done some lowering, hopefully someone will reply if otherwise. I used both sizes on a '98.

Might find this useful:

45 profiles will cause you no problems at all unless as sudjested the car is lowered.

Nice thread on wheel upgrades and tyre profiles here

Hi all, Just got a set of 04 impreza wheels,
Off a WRX, or an STI?

IIRC, the WRX wheels are a direct fit, but don't the STI ones cause problems?

Cheers for the replies guys- much appreciated, wheels are wrx ones twin 5 spoke design. tyres are provisionally sorted but ill check out michedever in the morn, at mo got some Marshall's which are made by kuomo £240 all in or some f1 at £94 each, on a bit of a tight budget at mo (same old story :( ) but used to use them on my Cav Turbo with no probs, good grip in wet/dry and reasonable wear but time will tell.
