New wheels for STi '03

I am thinking about changing my wheels over and need some help and advice?

I am currently looking at 18" Prodrive P7 alloys in a titanium grey with Goodyear GSD3 tyres on them. I have a black Scooby and do not like my gold wheels, so they will be on the market soon as well.

Anyone got any experience with these wheels, or any pics of what they look like on the car?

Also will the ride be too severe on 18" wheels for the road?

Any comments, advice, or people who would be interested in my gold wheels, let me know.

Not sure how much they are worth.

I've just fitted PFF7s in bright flitter to my '04 WRX. Obviously i'm biased but i think they look awesome.

The only problem is that they make the std brakes look decidedly weedy! I'm almost certainly going to have to put this right.

Any pics?

Get the std wheels painted gun metal and fit some RE070's, great tyres and the wheels look real cool.

Yeah, I tested that theory out here:

Only thing is I need my wheels, losing them to get sprayed for a few days is not an option.

I have some ex-WR1 alloys on mine plus the Prodrive springs. Nicer than gold and they handle much better. Ride is firm, but I can live with it. ;)

Thanks for the pics....

Did you know that the STi gold wheels are £351 a piece!!!!

Phil 15 March 2005 01:36 PM

I have bought 3 sets over the last couple of weeks

Never paid more than £350 for a set including tyres [albeit well worn]

All wheels good condition

I paid £340 for a brand new full set with new RE070 tyres :thumb:

RE070s - those ellusive ex-WR1 tyre deals. Urban myth or reality?

Mr Pants! 16 March 2005 09:23 AM

Thanks supertouring!

You have made my mind up....

I was going to get silver/grey wheels, no I think I will get silver ones looking at that picture.

Have you removed the transfers, the aweful pink stickers? I have a mate who makes them up and am going to get the STi in the same gold as the brake calipers and do away with the door stickers all together.

supertouring 16 March 2005 09:37 AM

Yes, all the STi badges have been removed from the front and sides. On the boot I only have the SUBARU lettering and and the IMPREZA badge, the STI and WRX badges have gone.

At the front I have a splitter and WR1 grille set in black.
Stealthy...............

Sorry to be a pain mate, can I see a pic of the front please?

LOL

It is just to give me an idea of what to do to mine....

Supertouring - WR1 wheels are / were available from a company called Mertin International, 01377 288 355. I bought some the other week for £440 inc vat and delivery and will fit them this / next weekend.

They're shipping them to the US so I don't know if they still have any in stock.

This is the only one I have, but it is not a good one. Does not show WR1 grille, as this was fitted after, but does show a distinct lack of stickers.

De-Tango is next - but not sure if I will paint lenses black or not. Maybe a bit OTT?
