Wheel Bearing?

I have a strange ringing/metal to metal sound from the rear drivers side. The noise is there when on/off the throttle.

I have all the discs/pads removed and cleaned. The rear caliper has also been checked.

The discs are STD with GreenStuff pads. The disc are slightly worn. There is a black scorch mark in the middle (2cm wide) I assume this has burnt the disc or something?

Can this cause the grease in the wheel bearing to dry out and make the strane noise? The wheel has no play.

If the bearing has dried out, can it be re-greased without replacing the unit?

The diff has been checked and there is no oil leak from it. All other parts around that area seem ok.

Any suggestions?

"sorry no..............meant the "sprung" clips top and bottom of the caliper that locate the pads!! these can sometimes get bent, etc. and catch slightly causing odd noises............"

Do I need to take the pads out to replace/clean the sprung clips?
