How to tell an STi or RA from standard..??

Apart from any garish 'Fast and furious' stickers it may possess... ?!?!?!

Am I right in assuming 'they' have black bonnet vents grills...??? amongst a host of other things...

AND... Why can't I find many WHITE scoobies...???

This is bad news, as I only want a white one.. :(

But good news, is i'm now looking at spendin £7.5k +the cab as a px, so traders please apply... :D

If it doesn't have a sticker on the back then the easiest way is to read the model code off the stamped metal plate under the bonnet and compare it with the list on http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm

For example if it says GC8C4DD, then it's an MY96 WRX RA STI2.

:)

Ahhh.... :notworthy

Cheers Iwan, I was gonna ask if there was a data base somewhere... ;)

my scooby search narowed... a bit..

Reckon i've narrowed it down a bit now.. after trawling every site my mouse could find...

£7.5k + circa £1k px (hopefully my beloved cab could be worth more, but doult it.. :( )
Gotta be White..
Gotta be a facelifted 'classic' (Is that a V3..???) , not a new fugly one.. So 97 to 99/00.. ??

Prefer standard, bar zorst & panel filter.. Gauges 'n' lights ok, bodykits NO..
Colour coded door handle, rear tints

Reckon that's it... :Suspiciou

Would insisting on wheels over 16" be too much to ask aswell.. :Whatever_ :D

What do you reckon to my chances...??? Baring in mind, that once the funds are cleared, i WILL want it last week, being the impatient mare i am... ;)
AND... I'd prefer trade, so I can px the cab.. A drive in drive out affair...

This'll be my last reply before the evening coz I'm at work now. ;)

It might be worth you getting in touch with Darbo_wrx on here as his mate may have a white STI Type RA available towards middle of April. Give him a shout.

I was after it myself but I've managed to locate a world rally blue (the old L555BAT McRae colour) STI Type RA WRC Limited instead. :D :luxhello:

ThE_MysterY_MachinE 11 March 2005 09:13 AM

Ho Are you still looking for a white Scooby ?? WRA or STi ???????

GirlieTrucker 11 March 2005 12:38 PM

Not fussed about spec, other than the above really...

Yes i'm a turbo nut and want an Sti, BUT I've never spent this much on a car before, so i'd rather get a newer standard one (PRST reg), over an older funcky one (MN)... I'm essentially buying this to get away from my pain in the RS heavily modded cabby...

Oh.. and the funds HAVE cleared, so I want one NOW, and I need to be able to px the cab, so there enuf left ove for insurance, tyres, etc...

I got this of here last June for £5,500. Version 3 (facelift) STI, standard apart from exhaust, masses of history and 4.5 secs 0-60 too!

Keep looking and get the right one, took me 3 months to find this one, but well worth the wait. A genuine STI version 3/4 will have the STI seats, an STI logo on the dash, by the speedo/tacho, red top engine, STI on the intercooler (larger than the version 1/2) and the STI strut brace. It will also rev to 8,250, so the first red dash on the tacho will be just under the 8,000rpm marker as opposed to 7,500rpm on the version 1/2. Do check out what you are getting, someone I know has a P plate version 1, should have been on an M, but somehow the importer got it through the DVLA and of course he paid the P plate dealer price, £8k last year!

One word of warning - make sure you can insure the STi as its ~ group 20!!! I maybe teaching you to suck eggs (;)), but in my experience, people assume they can insure it no problem when in fact insurers can charge the Earth! Anyway, I'm sure you'll enjoy the car :) :thumb:
