blue is ok

pink is deffo a bit poofy (unless your a girl!!)

whats wrong with the standard badge??

cant you get a green one??

RS Grant 08 March 2005 03:00 PM

I've got a pink one.... Go for the Pink one, either that or DIY a green one from the standard badge... IIRC there was a website posted a fair while ago that showed you a "how to" for this.

Cheers,
Grant

Daft Lad 08 March 2005 03:02 PM

I'd go for the pink 'I', in fact I think I will do just that in the near future! :D

Andy Tang 08 March 2005 03:04 PM

When I had a MY97 in DGM, I got a green i badge, which I believe was originally from an Impreza Outback.

It's easy to change the colour of your existing badge as well:

1) Carefully take off the grille badge (held on with a sticky foam pad)
2) Use celluose thinners on a cloth and wipe off the paint (don't get too caried away or it will remove the silver stars or i). It will take off the sticky pad as well! ;)
3) Mask off the front of the badge (overspray is horrible) and spray the back of the badge
4) Let it dry, stick some double sided foam pads on the back of the badge
5) Clean up the grill with some meths to get rid of the old sticky pad, and stick on your new coloured badge and admire your handiwork.

codemunky 08 March 2005 03:16 PM

I took out my stock badge, sanded the paint behind the badge (it was black) and painted it red. Stuck a 2-sided tape on that thing and put it back.

Andy Tang 08 March 2005 03:26 PM

The problem with sanding is that if the paper is too coarse it will scratch the plastic. Although fine scratches can be polished out.

Sounds like too much effort, hence the paint thinners!! :)

I went for the glittery nail varnish on the back of my old silver sport badge

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...andTidy021.jpg

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...andTidy020.jpg

I just used wet and dry sand paper on the back until all the old paint was removed then used a complete pot of clear glittery nail varnish... all you need to remember is to get someone else to buy it for you !! lol

My DGM's got the pink stars badge:

http://www.hampshiresubaru.co.uk/mem...onald/car1.JPG

A bit sad when it's not an STI, I admit, but it's only us anoraks who can tell the difference anyway. ;)

skoosh 12 March 2005 05:42 PM

I did a DIY job on an original badge, from black to red and.............some barsteward nicked it............Pissed but not a big deal.

So, a couple of guys on good ol' s'net sent me a couple of replacements.......very good of them ;)

So, I did another one and guess what...............someone nicked that one aswell as my passenger foglight ( front ).

Luckily, someone had sent me a metallic green "i" badge and that's been on car for almost a year now.

Looked good in red too......never mind, could've nicked the car i spose.

Si.

scoobchrissy 12 March 2005 06:39 PM

Blue :D

Daft Lad 14 March 2005 08:45 PM

After reading that DIY guide I thought I'd have a crack at it with my 'i' badge, opted for the pink nail-polish option! :thumb: A bit of the silver oval surrounding the i came off as I was removing the badge, only a tiny bit so I thought it best to touch it up with a bit of model paint or something before I covered the whole of the back of the badge in the pink stuff. I'ill go and have a look in the morning for some suitable paint. So far it's looking pretty good if I do say so myself, will chuck a couple of pics up when its finished.

Think I've got a 6 stars badge knocking around somewhere, I may do that in white aswell and then decide which one I like best! :D

Silver Scooby Sport 14 March 2005 10:22 PM

Nice one Daft Lad :thumb: nice to see my first student !! lmao

My badge looks as if it's been run over, If anyone has got a spare star badge for a classic give me a PM please.

Nice cheap mod doubt if you could find a cheaper one in the subaru budget !

Simon :)

Mine isn't in the best nick either, I've gone for the 'Looks nice from a distance' approach! :D

Colour on it looks great though its just a bit tatty around the edges, not sure how it happened because I didn't do any damage to it when I took it off the grille? Hopefully I'll get a pic of my efforts up tomorrow!

MAFFA 15 March 2005 01:16 AM

Pink stars definately :) Oh & if you're a bit more adventurous go for the fog covers in pink as well like me on my MY95 :) With a bit of nifty cutting, sanding, filling & painting you can come up with quite a good grill from the original MY95 as well ;)
