My 2nd Impreza...
Firstly, to all 56k users, be warned that there are a fair amount of pics in this thread..... :)
Well, after getting rid of my last Impreza for a Civic VTi (I was given a blinding deal).. I enjoyed the VTEC thrill for a while, but began to miss the kick of the turbo and the addictive Subaru burble!! :) So after 6 months of owning the Civic, I was looking for another Impreza. After making the trip to see many dogs privately and from dealers a friend offered me his in exchange for the Civic!! This was a pretty good deal as I know most of the history of the Scoob and know that it has been well looked after...... I'm pretty sure its been well looked after anyway!! :p :D He's some pics of the car when I got it at the beginning of January: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...J/DSC01327.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...J/DSC01332.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...J/DSC01326.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...J/DSC01328.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...J/DSC01329.jpg After a couple of months, I have managed to make the car a little better looking... and it sure sounds a wee bit better than it did with the standard twin pea shooters!! :D Here's how the car looks just now: (forgive some of the pics, I was trying to be 'arty' with my new camera :p) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...Picture328.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...Picture326.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...Picture325.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...Picture324.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...Picture323.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...Picture321.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...Picture319.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...Picture318.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/07...Picture314.jpg Current spec is: Engine: MY98 UK Turbo Dawes Device @ 1.0 Bar (Cheers Marky-San) Blitz Induction Kit H&S 3" Straight Through Downpipe (Courtesy of Group Buy) Blitz 3" Nur Spec R Exhaust System (Cheers Coco_Scooby) Ported Standard Headers Walboro Fuel Pump Full Samco Hose Set Exterior & Chassis: Fully Colour Coded - Handles, Mirrors & Skirts. I'll stop rambling on, let me know what you think of the car, and any ideas of how I may be able to improve it either performance-wise or visually. :D Cheers, Grant |
Looks like a proper Jap beast now!!!
Amazing what a few mods can do to the appearance of a car! |
Looking superb now mate.
Transformation since the last time i seen it. |
Looks great now m8 :)
|
that looks ace :D
|
Looks superb!! I am missing the rear mud guard thought :D
|
Thanks for all the kind comments guys... I'm really happy with the way its turned out after all the time and effort I've put into buying parts for it, and happy that the wheels are Anthracite as I was close to calling the guys who were re-furbing them and asking them to re-furb them in Gold instead!! :)
BlackStar, it never came with Rear Mudguards.... But the more I look at it, the more I agree that it could do with them. Cheers, Grant |
That looks the business grant - good tasteful mods :thumb:
|
Quite a transformation there :)
Looks good to me... the wheels look great in Anthracite ! How do you find the Springs ? I looking at Eibach's at the moment... any idea on how they compare to the H&R one's ? 40mm is quite a drop, suites the car a treat. Simon :) |
Thanks Mark... :)
Simon, my old MY99 had the Prodrive Handling Pack and that was the Bilstein Shocks with Eibach Springs with 17" Alloys.. IIRC it gives a 20mm drop over standard ride height, and the car handled really well. The H&R springs are fine, ride isnt any more harsh than my old Impreza and I think that with the larger wheels the 40mm drop isnt too much of a problem. I VERY occasionally get the mudflaps to scrape on huge/awkward speed bumps if I'm a little 'eager' to get over them but on the whole I'm happy with the look that they give me. I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong, but Carl Davey used to run Eibach Springs on his MY98 and later changed to the H&R's which he felt gave a better drop on his 18's. I'm sure he'd give you a more comprehensive write up of both sets as he's had them both on the same car. Hope that helps a wee bit... :D Cheers, Grant |
Thanks Grant that's really helpfull... I'm booked into powerstation on the 23rd and I want to get it right first time, I do like the low look and 18" is an idea for the future so I will give Carl a PM to see what he thinks of the 2.
Cheers Simon :thumb: |

Cheers, Grant What about timeshare ? lol Jan-July it's yours...then we swap back again. :D |
Hey Grant. :) I have to say, that's the second reddish blue MY98 i've seen on anthracite wheels recently and they've really set the colour off on both. I'm almost a little perturbed i turned my nose up at a reddish blue prior to buying the fridge. That's the perfect shade of anthracite by the way, not too dark but not so light it looks a dirty silver. i.e. OZ Superleggera anthracite.
I'm also loving the STi rears, their rarity makes them all the more attractive. PS: doesn't Lindsay want his plate back? PPS: Prodrive ECU? What Prodrive ECU? :p :D |
them wheels look great with the redish blue same as mine
ive got the same wheels on my 4 door but in gold do you know what the paint code was ? fancy getting mine done now |
fine beast
