kerbing my P1 18" alloys?

Having had these wheels for over two years, I have had times where I have been caught out by those high kerbs. Damaging the side walls of the front alloys. Put it down to bad parking I guess.
I am currently running pirelli's 215/35/18 tyres, which really give no side wall protection to the alloys. Or maybe its just the design of the alloy

I have thought about fitting 225/35/18 when the pirelli's have worn, but I am not sure if they will make contact on the rear struts, the 215/35/18 are pretty close now. MY95 WRX STI

Or are there any other brand tyres that have a stronger side wall or will I have to switch to 225's.

Thanks Ticky

225/35/18's will be fine. Thats the size of tyre the wheels come with direct from Subaru when they were sold! I run this size with no rubbing. 215's just look wrong IMHO, and offer no sidewall protection.

When I tried to check the clearance between the rear strut & my tyres (215) I can just about get my hand in between the small side gap. I think thats were I will have problems when fitting 225.
I dont think I will have arch problems as they have already been rolled.

Pickle:
I am not sure how my standard 95 sti rear strut differ from the P1 strut?
How much of a gap have you got between the rear strut & the inner tyre side wall. (rear)?

Thanks Ticky
