wide band o2

about to fit a wide band, not sure yet whether Im going to use the simulated narrow band output or run it in conjunction with the std. o2 sensor.
if I decide to fit it as a replacement for the std. one then the location is easy, neck of downpipe.
however, my downpipe only has one boss and the only other boss available is in the headers.
is it ok to fit wbo2 to the headers or will it give spurious readings?

FB Tuning 03 March 2005 03:45 PM

It will be too hot in the headers and the sensor won't last long IMHO :)

BTW, what W/B are you using?

Peanuts 03 March 2005 03:58 PM

techedge

what other options then?
Dont fancy fukarsing about with the downpipe as its on thin ice anyways and could be junked at a moments notice!

Put the WB in place of the standard NB sensor, and bin the OE item :)

Although the simulated 0-1V signal is not identical to the Subaru sensor's signal, I think that many people use it without any issues.

on apexi pfc?
still would like to use the oe though

FB Tuning 03 March 2005 04:27 PM

If you want to retain the standard one, then you'll have to weld a bung on somewhere after the turbo. ;) ( I shall probably stick it on the centre section on my car - not ideal though)

I can't see why using the NBSim output would be an issue on a PFC against any other ecu?

I use the techedge NBsim output into an Apexi PFC without issue.... the OEM sensor sits in the garage collecting dust ;)

Tony.

cheers guys :thumb:

Tony, meant to ask, what was the noise result on the silky pro?

Tone Loc 04 March 2005 06:11 PM

Still not changed the oil yet..... been busy finally fitting my Ledas. Hope to do it next weekend. I'll let you know tho.

Tony.

forgive me for being dumb, what is WB???

mbayley77 04 March 2005 06:52 PM

what is the sensor voltage reading whilst on idle? anyone?

If i could fake it could i get my car through the idle test on mot? Variable resistor?

The MOT test actually measure the amount of CO and HC in your exhaust, by putting a probe into it....so, you meddling with the lamda sensor output is going to do nothing to help you pass the MOT. It will only confuse the fcuk out of your ECU ;) :D
