Orange Mobile Bill issue
My dad had a monthly tarriff free mobile for a couple of years and then stopped using it after he got a landline in. He'd had a final bill of £21 quid that wasn't paid and so they must have eventually cut it off. I was over there a few weeks back and saw the reminded so I paid it on 16th Feb via internet bank. He calls me this morning to say he's just got a letter yesterday dated 22nd Feb .
The letter says pay the outstanding £21 plus a £17 quid contract charge with usual deadly threats around the letter. I phone the credit agency up and advise them it was paid on 16th a full week before their letter was dated and a full 2 weeks after it was recieved. They say(he is the good bit), if you reconnect with Orange, we'll waive the £17quid but they need a Direct Debit form signed. I of course immediatey think sure reconnect as its free and he doesn't use it then it no big deal, however I suspect they may also try and charge the £17 quid then its much more difficult to get it back. I just told them 'look its paid and thats it' but got the official line that you need to pay it all....anyone had similar experiences ? Cheers Jimmy |
