Evo MR340 STOLEN REG WX54 HFH

My new mr340 was stolen in the early hours of this morning. W**kers broke into the house and stole my jacket with the keys, wallet, etc.
First thing I knew about it was 6 am when the wife asked where the car was.
Didn't hear a thing. Trouble was all the tracker info was in my jacket, so I had to wait till the dealer opened to get the right number to call them.
They told me the tracker switches off after 6 hours so it's doen't deaden the battery so the'll have to wait until it moves again!!!

Left me really pi$$ed off.
What's the point of working your nuts off just so that some scumbag can come along and take it away.
I don't know if I want the car back even if they find it.

Conrad@the Racing line 22 February 2005 03:12 PM

Sorry to hear that m8y, good luck on getting sorted whatever you decide.

Where do you live compshack?

My local police are stopping Subaru drivers at the mo to warn about security due to several thefts in the area recently, just wondering if I should invest in a baseball bat or not as I tend to hide my keys at night...

V4JDMSTi 22 February 2005 03:23 PM

bar stewards!!!! good luck getting sorted with it. i keep my metal baseball bat next to my bed. i dred this sort of thing happening to me.

MattW 22 February 2005 04:06 PM

 sorry to hear that, what part of the country?

Dream Weaver 22 February 2005 04:26 PM

Holy crap, compshack lives down the road from me in Lancs :(

Really sorry to hear it, will keep an eye out around these parts.

Aztec Performance Ltd 22 February 2005 04:45 PM

Sorry to hear it mate.

House alarm?

Suprising how much people send on car security and very little on house security.

Blackjaxx and a decent active tracker would have been worthwhile too.

Bob

Danny B 22 February 2005 04:48 PM

Sorry to hear that mate, that is really bad news.
What is actually more scary is that someone came into your house and nicked your jacket without waking your family up. The car can be replaced but just thinking of someone sneaking about in my home whilst my kids are asleep upstairs sends shivers down my spine.
I know you probably don't want to hear this right now, but I truly believe that getting a dog would have prevented this, I would never be without one now.
If anyone so much as sets a foot on my driveway I am instantly alerted.

Once again, sorry to hear the news, I know you loved the car but at the end of the day it can be replaced.

New_scooby_04 22 February 2005 04:53 PM

Really sorry to hear about this mate. I hope it's returned to you undamaged and I'm glad you and your family are ok.

Regards,

NS04

Pauleds2 22 February 2005 04:57 PM

Really sorry to hear that mate,we have 2 scoobs and i keep the keys hidden upstairs when we are in at night.

I'm a bobby and the vast majority of cars stolen these days are stolen with keys.

Hope it turns up in a decent state.

Paul.

Dazza's-STi 22 February 2005 05:15 PM

Really sorry for you mate...

But can't help wondering want is going on here... this must be the 10\15th time this type of thing has been posted on scoobynet in what seems like the new year... and i can't help wondering...

You have a new pride and joy... you have a house and you live in it... So WTF didn't your house alarm go nuts at whatever time in the morning so you could call the plod!

if our security was breached after we have gone to bed then all hell breaks loose... the doors are locked and the access to upstairs has got locks on too... its physicaly not possible to stand the sound in the room when the alarm ges off and all this costs less than a head unit! And if they can't find the keys they can't get upstair to the family either... and by that time aslo theyed be **** scared becouse of the sound...

just an observation...

alwong 22 February 2005 05:20 PM

Sorry to hear. Good luck with everything.

compshack 22 February 2005 05:30 PM

Thanks for the support guys. Yes the alarm would have gone off .... If I'd set it. We had a lot of false alarms and I never got it sorted out, lame excuse but.
I made it too easy for the T*ats.
But after the horse has bolted etc etc.

Aztec Performance Ltd 22 February 2005 05:36 PM

blackjaxx and active trackers are also worthwhile too.

1. They wouldnt have got very far
2. Tracking company would begin tracking the car immediatley and call you to let you know.
3. You'd get your car back and poss have the crims caught.

Whats happened has happened and we should all learn from it.

Its sad that we have to take such measures to protect our property

Bob

scooby595 22 February 2005 05:47 PM

I agree, we work like hell to get our pride & joy and look what happens. I hope you get it back in one piece.

I know we can all get another one but it's not the point, the outrage is that people need to nick it in the first place. Hang 'em up alive when they find the scum.

Good luck and here's hoping a safe return.

be thankful that neither you or your wife was hurt. My m8's sister woke up to find a bloke stood next to her bed in the early hours. He was looking for the keys to her boyfriends motorbike which was parked on the drive. The boyfriend was beaten up! Hope they find your car soon.

and why havent the tracker companys come up with a better device.

we have a tracking system on our mobile phone which we keep in the car all the time hidden in the boot,we take it out and charge it on a regs as well as a trackstar.

Correct me if i'm wrong, the law changed a few weeks ago which said you were allowed to protect your sh1t, property, car etc with reasonable force. Right??

The main point, you can (CAN!) shoot someone if they face you. Not back to you.

Dont kill them while they are running away. Unfair.......

Do it quickly and from the correct angle.......

Read into this what you want, but i know what i'll be doing if anyone sets foot in my house.

Scoob99 23 February 2005 08:10 AM

So sorry for you mate, hope the barstewards die a slow and painful death:(
Cheers
Colin

Moray 23 February 2005 08:57 AM

Dream Weaver 23 February 2005 09:09 AM

The law never changed unfortunately, its still the same and shooting someone would get you banged up.

Jake 23 February 2005 10:04 AM

Sorry to hear about your Evo must be really gutting. Hope you get it sorted soon...

I dont bother with expensive trackers and alarms, just lift the bonnet and disconnect something vital for the engine to run. Oh and always keep the keys next to my bed along with a dummy set.

The law never changed m8, the law has always been on your side as a homeowner.
It's the press that make everyone think that they can't defend themselves, when in truth you can to the point of killing the intruder. As long as they are a threat to you, your family and loved ones, if they are off your property and running away that's another matter because they are no longer a threat.

That's how it was explained to me.

Any news on the car compshack?

No Dave,
The RAC Trackstar seems a bit useless. I couldn't phone the tracker people until I got the number off the dealer because they'd stolen all the contact numbers out of my jacket. It switches off after 6 hours and needs some one to either open a door or sit in the car to switch it back on again.

I phoned them again this morning but they still can't ping the tracker. So either it's in a metal container or out of reach for the GPS or they've disabled it. Great!

Next time, If there is a next time I'm going to get more than just a tracker and alarm.
Alot of car thieves don't want confruntation just to get the target.

Trackstar sounds a but crappy. A decent tracker will notify the tracker operator and they will notify you and the police upon illegal movement of the car regardless of whether the keys are taken. Gives them no time/very little time to locate/remove tracking devices. Blackjaxx would have meant a the alarm kicking off as they drove it out of your street/estate before immobilising the car.

Hope you get it back in one piece or get a good settlement from insurance company.

Bob
