Experience with halfords sub boxes?

Does anyone have any experiences with the sub boxes they sell in Halfords, do they sound any good, quality etc??

Any "generic" sub box is not going to be designed for a specific sub so you won't be getting the best, but on the other hand any box that's decently made (glued and screwed) out of 18+ mm mdf will be a fair bet.

It might not fit nicely in the car (have a look at stealth boxes if you want that) but it'll do a job of sorts.

Building your own box to meet your needs in terms of size and construction isn't difficult assuming you've got a jigsaw, a few tools, patience and lots of MDF :D

I had an earthquake 10" bandpass years ago, and nothing has ever sounded better to my ears. It's all in the box.

My fault i should have been clearer, they have pre made up sub boxes with subs in them already, the kit i was toying with is the Fusion one on this page :

Or they do a JBL Bass Pro, in a box, obviously need an amp. Or would i find a better deal sown sextons or similar?

I've always made my own boxes, if your good with a cordless drill and have some reasonable joinery skills, they are dead easy to make.

Heres my box, home made with the correct specs from RE, it sounds spot on.

The fusion stuff isnt that great,if you want an active sub,go for a vibe one, even the 10" one will suprise you,the 10" one is the same price as the fusion at £199.99 and the 12" version is £279.99 go in and ask to hear them, just remember thats in a shop so imagine what it would sound like in a car.

I would recommend going to a small independent shop that knows their stuff rather than the Halford monkeys, who in my experience know very little about audio. Also Halfords wont be able to do you a deal if you haggle/pay cash etc where as independents will, and give you good after sales service.

Just my view from my experience

OK, fair enough, I suppose its a bit harsh to put them all in the same category, Still stand by my other comments though.
