How to tell an wrx sti

I have a wrx 1994 it is a jap import which has the sti stickers on the boot. I was under the impression that all wrx's from japan where sti's is this true. If not how do you tell.
Thanks

blatently obvisous, although maybe copied:

inlet manifold will be red

there should be an oval STi badge under each side repeater

my rev counter has STi printed on it

seats have Sti embroided on them

mine has a carbon fibre strut brace

my intercooler has STi on it

Also check the VIN against the ones on SIDC FAQ

Well it does not have the plate so it must not be the STI. Foe some reason the rear sticker encorporates the sti within the design. Must be a different boot put on it.
Thanks this has helped me

the 6th digit of the applied model code on the vin plate will be either a D (normal sti) or E (sti type R or RA) unless its an sti 1. The sti 1 were modified wrx's so carried a wrx applied model code

the early sti didnt have the redtop manifold
