paulsti8 13 February 2005 07:43 PM

What bhp and torque figures do these 2.5 litre engines have?

Or if you can't wait and you're feeling rich, have one of these today :)

I see the links, but where does it state that these engines are going to be in our STi's next year, not trying to flame anyone, I'm just curious. Incidentally, what market will still get the 2.0 version, because, AKAIK, the group N rally cars cannot exceed 2.0 if turbocharged (although this could have changed in the latest raft of rule changes).

Historically the Australian market has always received very similar specs to Europe. Unless it proves impossible to get the 2.5 through noise & emissions, I wouldn't have thought it unlikely.

Beastie 13 February 2005 09:05 PM

Andy that was what i was thinking, our cars have always closely followed the Australian ones. The Canadian link only followed as a reminder that this engine has been in production for a little while now.

If anyone can find anything truly specific to UK market then feel free to post it.

Well, the turbo'd Forester is now available as a 2.5 litre in the UK, so it makes sense that the '06 Impreza will be.

A UK STi with a 2.5, 6 speed and good intercooler along the lines of the US model would make a nice base. Easy to insure, get bits for. All it would need is a turbo, induction, exhaust (inc manifold/uppipe), fuel pump (+ reg or injectors), remap to run a very lag free 400 BHP I reckon.

The JDM cars will likely stay 2.0?

Dazza's-STi 14 February 2005 10:51 AM

Oooooh i want one so bad...

Anyone bothered to check the date on this article..?

paulsti8 14 February 2005 06:25 PM

Thanks for the info. I started this thread after talking to a dealer at the weekend who said that there would be another facelift of the impreza range by the end of the year, followed by an anouncement of the 2.5 litre sti early in 2006. This would shorly upset a lot of people who have bought imprezas over the last couple of years in all its upgraded forms; wrx, 03 sti's, wr1's and 05 sti's that will almost certainly lose money at a more rapid pace if this true.

Catherine 14 February 2005 06:57 PM

Paul,

There is a new Impreza coming for 2006, I am guessing that is what the dealer is referring to. If you do a bit of searching you will find a few supposed images of the car on Scoobynet.

My understanding is that it is an all new Impreza, rather than a facelift, but I may be wrong.

a 2.5 would be sooooo nice, if it's true.

Norfolk dealer said same complete new impreza late 2005

If they get the interior plastics just like the Legacy then that will be a great car.
