Decat Purchase Advice Please

Firstly sorry for Cross Posting but all the action is in here.

Hello ladies & gentlefolk of scoobynet, im after some advice from you folks. Ive come into a wee bit of spare case and would like to enhance the performance of my Subaru.

Firstly the make

Subaru Impreza 04 WRX STI Type uk
Mods so far are minor

STI performance Panel Filter
Afterburner Backbox

I now want to go the full Decat route to bring in a bit more torque and to allow it to spool up a wee bit sooner oh and to free up some more horses.

As i have no clue as to which parts to get im now in the hands of you folks, i believe ive identified the parts required but would appreciate some feedback so i dont make the wrong purchases.

I believe i need the following

Decat Openneck Downpipe (With CEL Fix?)
Decat Mid section (With CEL Fix?)

ECU Remap (Later im hoping?)

Im going to purchase from
http://www.cnewt.co.uk/products.asp?cat=6&sub=6

And would appreciate some feedback as to the sections i need.

Im ok with warrenty as its a company car and the boss has given me the go ahead.

I guess my first question is will it be ok to do this without a remap if so have anyone else done this on a newage without a remap and what gains were made?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Fergie

FFS, why have you knowingly posted in the wrong forum? Post in the correct place and me and a few others may be inclined to give youan answer

Yes - i'm a moody cnut but this is happening more and more. We might as well just combine all the forums and have a free for all :p

I belive the sti has 2 cats, as opposed to 3 on the wrx.

You will need a replacement downpipe and replacement centre section/s. as for where and how you buy these from is your choice. Replacing the parts without cats is negligible as only the diameter is slightly different. You may also want to consider a resonator section to keep the noise down a little in the cabin.

Do you plan to fit them yourself or have a specilist fit them for you ?. As you allready have a afterburner backbox have you thought about the rest of the scoobyworld / h&s stuff.

depending where you are in the country. here are a few places you may want to have a look at.

TSL
xtreme scoobies
scoobyworld
BRD.

As for waiting to have the remap, i would advise against this, When I decatted my car a week before the remap the knocklink was "very" active I had to gingerly pootle around, everyone has different experiences but at least you should get yourself a knocklink and if you have problems be prepared to get a remap sooner rather than later.
