Obviously the Toyota and Subaru buyers are best mates :D and when they go to a Kar-oke Bar get Rattted and end up buying a chinese Junk full of knock off lights, the trouble is the last few years they have drunk far to much Saki

IIRC Car Manufacture's don't normally make their own lghts ;) Old Lotus's used bits off BMC Marina and Avenger

Tony

Except for the Bugeye of course

i personally think the interior is more similar than the exterior

ALi-B 11 February 2005 11:55 AM

I see not many people are willing to own up that their Scoob looks like a Toyota Corolla :D

Denial is a wonderful thing :D

Absolutely true - I've thought this for ages.

The worse thing is that you can usually spot some frighteningly similar interior fittings too.....

It's because we all like to buy similar looking "euroboxes". If we had to have a different car - we'd be marked out as different and a bit wierd - so we conform.

In their own little way the fast and furious owners are standing out and having a car they like and want to own that's different. Not my thing really, give me a nice rod or custom car and I've made my statement.

i would also like to add that one time whne my brotehr had freshly imported the 1995 classic, he was prepping it and had taken the bumper off. we had a 1993 hatchback corrola which was in the process of being modified. So we experimented and put the impreza bumper on the corolla because we though it would fit, lights were almost identical........and it did

The answer is quite simple really, and is for several reasons...

most new designers have been at a design house or similar with a like peer group, net result most have similar design concepts that mean vehicles are very much alike.

couple in the fact that if you designa vehicle that is radically different, it may not sell..

most oem,s uplift vehicles every year, ford did it quarterly on the focus!!!

and why does the new focus look very similar to the old??? because if you shift in excess of a million units, you would be daft to throw it away on a duff model..

if you want proof, look at the c max.... heavily discounted, with no revisions on the horizon... fords outlook on this was, if you want 4 seats c-max 5 seats galaxy???

fiat multipla.. radical and not a hit..

the only one who seems to pull it off is renault, however they dont face lift, but release a new model every 5 years approx..
