I wouldnt bother if I were you; Imprezas dont benefit from 'induction kits'; quite the opposite in fact. Id stick with the standard airbox and an STI panel filter. Smoother, quicker, quieter and itll not be shagging my airflow meter...

sounds like he has made the "heat shield" himself. If you really want one do it yourself for a lot cheaper

Thing is...on a MY98, the "air feed" sucks air in from under the bonnet (the black plastic bit to the bottom left of the main picture) which will be at under-bonnet temperature, so unless he's removed the resonator under the bumper and routed a cold air feed (which it looks like he hasn't). Or if the bonnet vent cover isn't removed - the heat shield is useless!
