thanks to the nice traffic policeman in hyde today

Doing some delta dash power runs to assertain why my car was overboosting. From the roundabout @ the junction of the m60 and m67, heading towards hyde, had to maintain 0.5 boost pressure on my gauge for john in passenger seat. So carefully watching traffic ahead, moved to outside lane, foot to the floor to load up the turbo boost, steady, watch the gauge, watch the traffic, gauge traffic, rear view mirror............................................ .................................sh*t............. ..........full size carlton estate with all the bells and whistles right behind us :(

Expected flashing lights, indicators to pull over:.................

got a wry smile of the traffic policeman instead, and a gesture to "slow down"

BIG THANKS MR POLICEMAN, we were probably doing around 90 at that point!
Much better than a speed camera, as last few power runs were only half hearted after that :)

Thats the first time I've had dealings with the police of any kind for years, and nice to see there are some nice coppers out there still.

We can be nice sometimes, but look how often we get a good slagging off.

cw42 10 February 2005 08:28 AM

wazza2770, exactly why I posted the experience on here last night, try to balance opinions out a bit :)

Are you sure it was a proper police car? They haven't used Carltons since the mid/late nineties.

;)

Oh, do they do a 'half' size version as well as the full size one :D

cw42 10 February 2005 10:44 AM

thanks dracoro :)
could've been an omega! whatever it was, it was driven by a nice copper :)

i drive my car to work every morning 630am. nice a cold and only a few cars about. twice now i have arrived a set of traffic lights with a traffic cop on a bike sat at the lights infront of me!! he happens to be going exactly the same way as me so there goes my fun. yesterday i decided i would do usual speeds as couldnt be arsed to sit behind him at 50 on duel carrageway so i just drove off normal speeds knowing he didnt have any camera equipment on the bike and was on his own so didnt have any proof if he wanted to knick me for speeding slightly. so, heading up through a few trafic lights etc hes still miles back so i decide to floor it and have my fun like i do every morning. as im onto the duel carrigeway now im doing bout 100mph and i see a ferrari 355 come onto the duel carrageway and he wasnt going slow so i decide to keep my foot down and race him.

silly me!

totaly forgetting to check my mirrors again im behind the ferrari in the outside lane doing 125mph and what do i see coming up from behind me, flashing blue lights! oh **** i think as me and the ferrari immediatley pull over to the nearside lane. well he turned his blue lights off, flashed me a few times, got along side me and gestured to slow down. he then sped off to 100mph and i just stuck to 60mph. nice bloke or couldnt be arsed to tell me off with no proof on a freezing day obviously off to station.

Had a similar event happen when I had Bob Rawle mapping my car in Swindon..... paying far too much attention to the immediate car in front and the boost gauge, I overtook to be in full view of a police car travelling in the slow lane.... closing speed of approx 50mph!!

Dived in and "hid" behind the car I had started to overtake. Bob said he didn't think there was a defence in court for mapping.... when the police car headed on to Cirencester, we came off the dual carrageway and had a breather..
