Thanks, same to you. But I thought you already had what you wanted - amps and sub? - or did Santa take them away for safekeeping once they were "TESTED" ahemm, of course you were only testing them http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

'Santa' had a sulk until I gave 'em back :-(

However, on Christmas Day, all was well - especially when I gave 'Santa' the keys to her present ;-)

The Scoob is now TOTALLY mine <grin>

The Sub is very very good :-) Very punchy with nice bottom end (wouldn't expect too much treble though!!)

It's a Kenwood KFC WF303 12" free-air driver..... first time I've actually heard a sub not in an enclosure. V impressive.

The JBL amps are tremendous. They've actually 'warmed' the sound. The Sony MD headunit isn't the best sounding unit out there, but the amps have made such a difference.

Just need some time to install it all now....oh, well :-)

Merry Christmas :-)))

Dan, I thought that Kenwood sub sounded interesting. I am wondering where you were going to/have mounted it - I was guessing rear deck, but you have a 5dr, right?

What do you think it would sound like in the spare wheel well? - would save making a "box"? Which JBL amps do you have also? Forgive my nosiness - always interested in researching potential new toys - am off to Falkland Performance tomorrow for the start of the tweaks - prob. just pads & geo for now!

Hi John,
The sub is mounted in an MDF false floor (Handy Andy - eat your heart out!!!) and it sits inside the spare wheel space, with the spare wheel present. I'll let you know tomorrow how it sounds - installation completion iminent :-)
The amp is a JBL LC-A275 2ch amp - bloody big considering it's only 2ch.... 160Watt RMS though....

Let me know how you get on at Falkland :-)

Geometry and brakes are great (now I've stopped them squealing).

It would be really interesting to hear in more detail about how you are installing the sub. When you say MDF false floor - are you making a piece to fit the whole boot or just a section? Is the spare wheel still in it's original position ?nut removed ?soundproofed or sealed. Are you putting a grille over the sub - will it be flush etc. Really interested as I'm considering this. If you have facilities to post digital photos that would be ace, and I'm sure useful for the FAQ. Wish I'd taken some when doing my install.

Consider it done - in fact, I'm gonna start a new topic (you'll see why...)
