18 hours ownership, pulled over

now i've had mt flash cars in the past , porsche, Last Lotus elise, nver been pulled over in my life(34 years old), picked up the car yesterday andtoady the blue flashing lights pulled me over, wasn't speeding, didn't jumpany lights, he came to the car, noticed my 10 week baby in the back, and backed off, told me the car looked nice and to have a nice day. Furious i was, if the baby wasn't in the back i'm sure it would have been a longer chat!!!!! What it is with these cars. Blue wagon 03 WRX.

STi wanna Subaru 09 February 2005 12:42 PM

he didn't do a quick check to ensure you where the owner?

eric Scofield 09 February 2005 12:54 PM

Oh oh ... watch out for the inflateable 10 month old babies appearing on ebay as the latest thing in 5-0 repellents ...

;)

TomCat 09 February 2005 01:00 PM

Must be something about "up North".
Only time I've been pulled over was in N Wales - was into the same layby I was pulled over in about 1973 for alledgedly riding my pushbike wrecklessly on the way to school....

This was clearly a Gay Coppa wishing to introduce himself when he saw your Gold Wheels ...... seeing the baby he concluded that you 'may' not be gay - so, backed off :D

Get some MANS wheels put on and you'll get pulled over for all the right reasons!! ;)

No point in being mad mate, he was just doing his job- sounded like he was being perfectly nice about it too. The fact is that Scoobies are favoured by the Scum, and tend to be used in crimes, so he probably just wanted to ensure that the car was being driven by it's owner, not some 19 year old chav!!

Yeah..............so you can give generously £60 or more, to New Labia's fighting fund:mad:

As if THEY haven't had the windfall the oil companies have had:mad:

New_scooby_04 09 February 2005 01:05 PM

Look at it this way: if Scoobies get a reputation as being popular with the old Bill, they might become les attractive to the Scum!

PS. Don't listen to PS lewis, gold wheels are not gay!! I have em on mine and don't like Graham Norton that much ;-)

Regards

i think you were just unlucky m8 i have had mine a year and my m8 had it 2 years b4 me weve never been pulled in it and im only 5"4" short.

Wurzel 09 February 2005 02:08 PM

but how did the cop know that the baby wasn't stolen with the car?????????????

Did he not even speak to you??

PS. never been stopped in mine, not for lack of trying either :(

adyhicut 09 February 2005 02:09 PM

Ive been pulled over recently in my WR1 in a Police Camera Action kind of way with 3 cop cars and the copter on standby?????? in case i floored it :D hahaha

I wasn't doing anything, he was just checking i was the owner and that it wasnt knicked. Pain in the arse really , kinda get the feeling i cant drive it without the coppers following me.

trails 09 February 2005 02:17 PM

never been pulled over, even going through one of those spot checks for un-roadworthy vehicles (drove thru nervously with full decat in silent no revs mode!). I did however see a chav in a classic with a big carbon dtm style wing and large scoop pulled over in Chelmsford last week...pmsl I'm afraidhttp://www.my-smileys.de/smileys2/00000032annie.gif

New_scooby_04 09 February 2005 02:34 PM

I've been quite lucky so far, I've had a couple of police cars have a look at me, but never been stopped (touchwood). Quite surprising as I've been told I look significantly younger than my 28 years (must be the oil of Olay ;-) ) If they run a owner details check on you -don't know what the official term is- based on your reg before stopping you, it may be my title that's disuading them from going through with it. . . . that'd be a nice -if unexpected- perk! ;-)

AndyC_772 09 February 2005 02:43 PM

I was pulled once in my old scooby by a couple of coppers just wanting to make sure I was the legitimate owner and that the car wasn't stolen. Full marks to them for doing their jobs I say.

yamman 02 R1 09 February 2005 02:48 PM

I'm oop North and haven't been tugged in over a year of ownership <touches wood, crosses fingers, strokes rabbits foot> and not for want of trying ;)

SteveV-WRX 09 February 2005 04:28 PM

In nearly 9 years of driving I had not been pulled over until I brought my old WRX.

In the year of ownership I was pulled over twice, but on both occasions, the police were very friendly, they were just doing their jobs. Both asked about the car, made sure I was the owner, had a bit of a chat about the car and let me go on the way.

They are only human, give them a bit of respect and you'll get it back.

i have to admit, i'm not keen on the gold wheels either, they happened to come with the car, anyone want to swap? i belive they've been painted (invoice on original reciept) so can the paint be easily removed by subaru? he did'nt say much, looked round the car and off, no check unless he did the reg prior to stopping me. I wander if the inflatable baby thing is a seller, i'll have a think about that!!

corradoboy 09 February 2005 04:46 PM

Have a look for an alloy wheel refurbishers. You should be able to get them removed, tyres removed, shot blasted and powdercoated to the colour of your choice for £50-70 per corner.

Best place near me is....

M.S.S
City Mills, Peel St, Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS27 8QL

Yes, you need to get them Gay Golds sorted ASAP .......... I have NOTHING against Gays (a friend of mine IS Gay and 'Just Loves' Gold Wheels as he says with a waft of an bent wrist in the air!)

But, if you're NOT Gay then I reckon you should dump the Gold and get them back to Silver .... Anthracites are nice too (one thing on the P1 that I thought was nice!) [unbelievably, some changed the P1 wheels to Gold  ]

i got stopped twice in the last year in my sti bugeye, 1st time they were gutted i didn't run because they wanted to chase me ( they did like the scoob though as one of them wanted to buy one), 2nd time elder pc was glad i stopped as he had told the young wpc with him that if i had booted it they would not have caught me.
both very polite and just checking car out

Inflatable sheep on back seat works much better.

Cops guaranteed to back off.

Unless in "Blunderstrum" country. :)

Also handy to have in car whilst waiting for Subaru Assist to arrive.

Only at weekends Chris! ;-) I'm a 'Dr' the rest of the time, but I only use it when dealing with my bank manager! :-) Didn't/don't know whether it affects the police's willingness to pull me over.

Regards,

rolyatescort 10 February 2005 10:16 AM

I so far haven't had a pull(oo-er missus) in the scooby, but i have been followed by the police and intently watched, but on both occasions i get teh impression that they were just checking the car out making sure it wasn't missing a drivers window or had a screwdriver hanging out of the ignition. The coppers who watched me intently when doing the'r 2 drive-bys even waved before driving off!

I've always found coppers ok, as said above be respectful and you should get no trouble.

MidLifeCrisisII 10 February 2005 11:00 AM

I'd be pleased they stopped me, just stopping people stealing Scoobs.

BTW, my Mrs wants me to change the WRX 01 bugeye silver wheels for gold.
She's not gay but I can always hope...

Well, YES the females love the Gold Wheels (the femminine side coming out, see?)

OR

She wants you to put Gold Wheels on so all the females will take it as red that you are a shirt lifter and leave her man alone - see??

Just wondering PS Lweis if you are a shirt lifter? Its ok if you are. I'm sure people are open minded on this forum. From other threads it seems like you are. I'm not slating you for it because it's cool if you are. I think you should just be open about it.
