is gearbox oil and diff oil the same stuff?
 
if so, how much do i need to supply the garage for my service? receipt says quantity of 5, i take it this is 5 litres?

Yes it's the same stuff. It's either 4.3 or 4.8L you actually need, so you'll need to buy 5L yes.

as long as WRX or UK turbo.................if its an STi then normally an LSD rear diff and better off with a pukka LS oil...........

how are they going to get the oil in the rear diff ? as gravity dont work up hill or am i just been thick ?

THICK :p (joke)

There are two holes in the rear diff, one for draining and one for filling. The filling hold also acts as a fill level. A fluid pump does make changing diff oil a lot easier but it can be done with a std 1lt container and spout supplied.

As long as the gearbox oil is also suitable for LSD's normally says this on the tech sheet.
