Wireless router problem

Just got ADSL and bought a DM602 Netgear modem. This to replace the Wanadoo speedtouch modem. The DM602 connects fine to the net, but when I hook it to my wireless netgear router (WGT624) I can't get a connection.

Any ideas anyone ?

If all the componants (PC, router, modem) are wired together, can you connect then? Because you need to make sure you can run like that before going wireless.

Yep, all 3 connected, currently all wired i.e. modem has RJ45 to router, router has RJ45 to PC.

you should have the ip address in the instructions. click run then ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where x is a number
if ip address not available type 'cmd' in the run program, then type 'ipconfig' - you'll find the ip address there

Does your router use the standard Netgear trick of being accessed via a browser going to IP address 192.168.0.1? If so, what happenes when you do?

Some now use 192.168.1.1

:)

Yes it does, 192.168.0.1 gives me access to the router. I think the router needs to assume the address of the modem somehow.

Ash, go into the routers settings, go to your primary connection, and there should be a menu or check box showing connection type, ie; pppoe, dhcp, pppoa etc. Select pppoe, and then enter your username and password in the relevent box, save it and you should be there.

I have set up a 604 Dlink router wirelessly before now.
