A QUICK REPLY PLEASE

What is the ideal clearance, from the face of the front caliper(4 pot subarus) to the inside of the rim face iv'e got ten mm at the moment. But i have been offered some alcon/prodrive 303mm discs and bells complete. But have been told that they will fit straight on but i have to space the calipers out by 5mm. Leaving me only 5mm clearance to the inside of the rim face i/e closer to the spokes on my rims, so the clearance goes from 10mm down to 5mm. The alcon disc size is 303mm x 24mm. Will the reduced clearance be ok for my calipers and rims.

1.5mm is a good guide.

As they've all said, as long as it don't touch its fine.

That said, my friends wheels were close stationary, (about 1mm) but after a session at the track we noticed some wear on the raised lettering on his aftermarket calipers where they had been hitting the wheel.
