What boost does a sti 8 run
As it says.
What it is i am going to put a boost controller on the car. What boost should it run standard??? And what boost will it take?????? Please could someone tell me.. Thanks Mick |
I think that will depend if you want to get it to its 10,000 mile service still in one piece or not.
|
It runs about 0.9 Bar.
If you turn up the boost without a remap, you will likely **** your engine. |

It has got 16.000 miles on it. It is going in for a f con pro ecu on friday. |
A remap is probably your best bet, you can tune them quite well, but it will invalidate your warranty (all of it, not just the engine).

Std. boost is around 1.2 bar PPP goes to around 1.3 bar but that's with ignition and fuelling re-mapped. Just fiddling with boost is very unwise!

my sti 03 shows boost of 1.46bar

Tony:D How would they know ? |
By interogating (sp??) the ECM the parameters will be different from a standard map

Stephen :D Mine has the PPP exhaust on so would they go looking at the ECU ? |
No but if something goes wrong they will, tbh i was planning a remap on my scoob when it was weeks old
Its all to do with the risk factor & if your credit card could handle any so called non warranty repairs Stephen :D |

So if anything goes wrong I'll try under warranty, if they find the remap I'll just have to pay and unless the bill is £1k plus I'm still on a winner |
If your going down that route mate, just take it to a specialist for servicing, if anything does go wrong then i dare say they wont charge as much as the dealer
Good Luck Stephen :D |

Mine peaks circa 1.34 bar (non PPP)
|
Im pretty sure the standard STi runs around 0.9 - 1.0 bar boost and thats what it should have......
I remember when Richard Bulmer mapped mine he stipulated that you should NOT be turning the boost up and it still runs 0.9-1.0 bar. I may have got this wrong though, like I do most things. Gary |
my tsl 333 map runs 1,35 bar with richard saying any more is detrimental to turbo/engine reliability,i know some boost gauges are inaccurate but 1.46 seems way too high-pm mike wood?

My Bob Rawle'd STI peaks at 1.55 bar
Normal Boost is 1.35-1.46 WOT |

On my DEFI gauge max boost is just undder 1.5
Mmmmm Will check wot it reads on APEXi |
My reading of 1.34 is from SECS, dunno how accurate they are though.

The paek figure you get on a gauge with a telltale will not be the same as either the target boost or the true figure it holds. Depending on when the throttle is opened (engine speed wise) has a big effect on how much it overshoots the target. It would be entirely possible to have a std car that overshoots to 1.4bar for a fraction of a second but holds 1.1bar in the midrange where a remapped car has no overshoot and eventually holds 1.3bar.
