boost creep
 

help my 94 wrx has started too boost creep, the boost hits the dawes target of 19 psi then continues to rise. i have a decat dp, sti intercooler, apexi pfc, recon td05, samco turbo hoses, i,ve check everywhere for leaks. i,ve removed the dawes and used a straight pipe and the boost hits 9-10 psi then continues to rise with the revs all the way to 20+ psi. :cry: .

Could be a sticking actuator arm/rod.

Unlink it from the turbo arm and check the penny and arm (on the exhaust housing) swings freely.
Check the actuator as well with a vacuum gauge to check that's not FUBAR'D

i checked the wastegate today moves freely, took the actuator off had a look the arm moves freely too.

perished /cracked pipework from compressor outlet nipple to boost solenoid maybe?

was that straight pipe in one of your tests a different piece or one of the originals?

Check the preload on the actuator linkage. On your set up, you would want only 1mm extension of the wastegate rod in order to be able to latch it on to the wastegate arm (assuming yours is the adjustable type ?)
