Unleaded question
Can anyone advise, what will happen if you put normal unleaded in an STi?
|
Super unleaded is fastest, normal unleaded abit slower but still ok and diesel the slowest of all :)

I used sainsburys super (79p here) in my stiPPP last week and drives the same as optimax (85p) using my butt dyno.

If It's a classic then def no, unless of course It's been mapped to run on it.

it will run like a bag o' ****e and you will presumably get loads of det, and maybe engine failure? is it a uk car or jdm? if its jdm i know you are meant to use the super version, if you are using normal unleaded get a fuel addative to add to increase the ron in the fuel.

Taken from Prodrive brochure on STI Prodrive performance pack ;) |
Its an MY03 Sti type UK.
The acceleration is not 100% smooth all the time. The turbo kicks in nicely, then there is an extremely slight hesitation around the 5500rpm area, only very slight though and not every time I accelerate. I only brought the car yesterday and there was 1/2 a tank of fuel in there. I have put in Optimax, but I wondered if perhaps it had normal unleaded in before and this may be the problem. Or are these cars not perfectly smooth through the rev range all the time? |
If you want smoother and faster then super is the way to go, any make will do imho.

Take a look in the manual. It says something along the lines of "Use 98 RON unleaded gasoline - 95 RON can be used but not to optimum performance"

On a UK car of course. |
Thanks guys, I will give it a couple of tank fulls and see if it clears up.
It seems to be getting less and less hesitant the more I drive it |
