m4a > mp3 conversion

Hello

looking for a free utility to convert m4a to mp3.

I downloaded and album but it's in m4a format. Want to convert it so i can listen to it in the car :)

what is m4a btw? Is is any better than mp3?

M4A is Dolby AAC, the audio CODEC for MPEG4. It is the default CODEC used by Apple for iTunes and the iTunes Music Store (iTMS is protected by DRM and uses the extension .m4p).

Foobar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org/) or iTunes (http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes) will both transcode .m4a to .mp3
