Recommended mp3 bitrate for car?

Hi,

Just experimenting with mp3 bitrates in preparation for getting an mp3 player in the car. Not going to have a *top of the range* system (it is in the car after all ...) so a loss in quality won't be the end of the world. BUT I don't want it to sound too ****e ...

To put me in the right ball park can anyone recommend a starting point for the bitrate? I reckon about 128? But can't find anything too specific using google - probably used the wrong search terms ....

Cheers

Dave

Yep 128kbit is average but sbe fine. Personally I dont go for anything under 192kbit, which is almost CD quality. Well you wont notice any difference to a CD unless youre in a lab.

On my Alpine ICE, I rip at Near CD Quality VBR via Easy CD-DA. Sounds great with the factory speakers.
