Which turbo to choose

Any suggestions based on the following:

MY99, full H&S exhaust including free flow centre cat, K&N filter,Tek2.

I drive in and around London suburbs so I want a turbo that minimises lag, will spool up very quickly and will get me to 300-320bhp. I want the car to be responsive and I'm not interested in big power.

The vf34, vf 35 and APS SR30 have all been recommended but what do others think??

A TD05 converted to Front Entry is a well tried and tested 'upgrade' to cars fitted with the smaller TD04.

Granted, it spools up a little later than the tiny TD04, but for the increased top end power it's well worth it IMO.

I've fitted one to my MY00 UK, and the difference even before a remap was pronounced. :)

I'd have thought the VF34 would suit you better. Its a roller bearing turbo so the spool up is almost as good as the TD04.

VF35 will spool better than VF34 because VF35 has P15 exhaust housing which is smaller than VF34's P18 exhaust housing. For the power you are looking at a VF35 will be fine at 320 HP and they are readily available secondhand from new age STi's 01,02,03 etc.

VF35, it's the thinking mans' TD05! The new 'black' if you like ;)

<Off Topic> Mark, sorry m8, just got fed up up with all the crap on there, plus there were niggles about us being commercial so I started deleting things and then just got it locked.

Car is still ongoing, 6 speed is in, engine is sat in front of the car waiting to go in, then wire it up, fit the new billet manifold and mapping time.

Hoping to have it ready in time for the the Racing line official "open day and shootout run" which will be in March (middle) date to be confirmed :)

<back on topic> sorry :D
