Crank Sensor, BIG Probs!!!
I attempted to change the crank sensor on MY97 UK Turbo but it was stuck fast, managed to (accidentally) break off the upper plastic section which incorporates the actual magnetic element but the metal casing which fits into the housing block is still stuck in there & iv tried everything i can think of 2 remove it but cos its in such an awkward place to get to im not having any luck. any ideas on how to get it out or will i need 2 replace the whole housing? if so, how big a job is it? cheers fellas!!!

The metal casing is part of the block isn't it? You don't want to be breaking that.
You could try some gentle heat (but you will have to take care not to melt anything else) |
i dont think the metal casing is part of the block as the new sensor has the casing already attached
|
You could try a big magnet, but I guess if it's stuck fast that isn't going to move it.
Remove the alternator belt and alternator, so that you can get access with a pair of pin'nosed pliers Richard |
Tak, Highlander is meaning the bit the sensor is stuck in is part of the block, so dont break it.
Do as fiestaboy says, and apply lots of wd40. if that fails, remove the cambelt covers, and tap the senor upwards with a punch (its knackered anyway), be carefull NOT to damage the toothed wheel on the crank. |
Thanx guys, i'l have a crack at it over the weekend & let u know how i got on
|
drill a small hole in it.. and put a self tapping screw in and pull hard.
