Ray,
I've been a surfer for some 30 odd years now, as for wave names, the only types that spring to mind are "beach break", "barrel", as far as I'm aware they don't really have names, the following site http://www.a1surf.com/ has loads of good info on the types of waves you get at different spots, it may be of some use to you. Ian. |
Waves don't have names as such just names for different types of break.
This is Laird Hamilton and he da man http://www.surfline.com/travel/tripw...er/nohands.jpg If that does'nt convince you look at this edited to say link should work if you paste it... or not as the case may be... I'll try and find one that works as its worth seeing |
Type Laird Hamilton rides the heaviest wave into google and click the link at the top.:freak3:
|
iv designed something that looks like a wave rolling over and i need a name for it.
|
Don't call it Tsunami, bad marketing move if your planning on selling it at the mo!
What does it do? |
dont do anything just looks like a wave rolling over. Sorry but that all i can say
|
Jaws is about the most famous named wave.
|
Big ones, small ones, ones that pound you into next week, ones that submerge you for far longer than you had in mind...... etc.....:D
I don't surf, just windsurf, and I think the waves required are slightly different, so I'm told.... No that that's much help:D |
You can call it the Mexican ;)
<gets coat> |
I use to surf, still not lost the touch :)
|
How about this..... http://meted.ucar.edu/marine/mod1_wv_type_char/ ?:)
Takes bloody ages to load, even on broadband, but there's a few things on there:) transverse waves, oblique waves, etc etc....:D |
