gravelexpress 17 January 2005 08:01 PM

I havent worked out how everything works - I just keep zooming into the sensitive military areas to see if they let you look at the photos

gravelexpress 17 January 2005 08:05 PM

just started downloading the UK another 152mb!!

lewis_junior 17 January 2005 09:28 PM

Don't exactly get what it's all about?

super_si 17 January 2005 09:58 PM

is it possible to get street level detail or not?

so far just boundries + town names!

Si

Scoobychick 18 January 2005 02:13 PM

I've downloaded it and it's extremely cool  All I need now is someone to tell me how to use it :D

Chris L 18 January 2005 02:33 PM

260 Meg - it had better be good. Seeing as I have lost all my connections to work and have bugger all else to do at the moment, I'll start downloading :)

TonyG 18 January 2005 02:36 PM

I'm guessing this is going to be far too much for my poor old 56k dialup modem...

Quite likely Tony :(

I have 2meg broadband and still have an hour to go for the remaining 75%!

Transfer rate is pretty slow at the moment... wonder how many folks (not just scoobynetters) are downloading this right now

Scoobychick 18 January 2005 02:43 PM

I've found my village using coordinates but that's about all so far :D Tony, it took me ages to download using broadband

TonyG 18 January 2005 03:40 PM

Hmm, a case of "Don't try this at home" for me then :D

TonyG 18 January 2005 03:43 PM

Forgot to add - Sal, have you tried it on Sweden yet?

Scoobychick 18 January 2005 03:53 PM

Yep, had a look at the area covered by the WRC :D I'm currently downloading the UK...

sti-04!! 18 January 2005 04:00 PM

So what is it ??

I wont even try until i get home :p as by the sounds of it, it'll bring down the complete network :D

InvisibleMan 18 January 2005 04:08 PM

im attempting to bring down the network now ;)

Chris L 18 January 2005 04:21 PM

That is quite staggering :) It is basically a map of the entire world - some of the images are amazing. I'm not quite sure what I'm doing with it yet, but it is very impressive! It will allow you to navigate to basically any point on the surface of the earth. Have a read of the website for more details.

InvisibleMan 18 January 2005 04:25 PM

50%......

ajm 18 January 2005 04:32 PM

cue Scoobynet bringing down NASA's internet connection! ;)

Scoobychick 18 January 2005 04:42 PM

I'm currently downloading the UK again as something went wrong right at the end of the download the first time I did it...

Operator error no doubt :D

InvisibleMan 18 January 2005 04:56 PM

33mb left :D

so the UK is another 250mb download? probably best i leave that till tomorrow ;)

Jamie 18 January 2005 04:59 PM

Very good program took me ages to d/l on broadband but worth it :)

Scoobychick 18 January 2005 05:47 PM

I've downloaded the UK but I'm not sure what to do with it now  I've just had a look at the UK using the programme but it appears to be downloading the data from the NASA server - the NASA logo is in the corner - shouldn't it be loading straight from the cache now?

I'm outta my depth here :D

InvisibleMan 18 January 2005 06:04 PM

i think we all are :D they need a more indepth manual (first time ive said that  ) howd you make the images 3d? no point havin flat mountains :Suspiciou

Jamie 18 January 2005 06:17 PM

A guy on the World Wind Forum has produced this User Guide

There's also a pdf version of the same thing Here

I haven't had chance to look at it yet tho. It might just be a simple getting started guide.

ScoobyChick, I manually copied all the UK files after unzipping them into the relevant folders  Wasn't sure how to do it otherwise.

So no idea whether it's made any difference or not :(

Jamie 18 January 2005 07:31 PM

It keeps crashing my puter :(

paulr 18 January 2005 07:38 PM

It says you need a 3gig pentium and win2k or xp.

how close can you get,ie can you see your village or house?

Jamie 18 January 2005 07:41 PM

To the house :)
