[rant] Dangerous art installation

I guess all you southerners on here have already encountered this one, but I've just been to pick up an ebay win from a guy who lives on the Isle of Dogs in central london. It's about 6PM and so it's dark.

So I'm driving towards this roundabout, and start thinking they're silly and have forgotten to take the christmas tree lights down, then I realise one of those is a red traffic light and to the side is a pedestrian crossing on green.

As I was about to cross the give way line, and london is full of red light cameras, I drop the anchors and nearly get rear ended by a BMW or similar.

Takes me a moment to figure out the lighting system at this junction, but it turns out that what I have actually encountered is this:

Now I have no problem with art, and can see how this is an ironic statement about what a complete pain in the arse driving around central London is, but what the fcuk were they thinking putting it in the middle of a roundabout. I bet the smug artist sees drivers stop at the roundabout and thinks they have paused to admire his work.

So traumatised by this was I that heading towards the blackwall tunnel, I nearly missed a 30 sign + camera, anchored on, and my new UPS went flying from the passenger seat to land in the footwell that contained my second new UPS, luckily they're both ok.

Can we please get this thing moved to a pedestrianised zone where people can actually look at and appreciate it, I'm suprised there haven't been accidents caused by it.

Looks like a stupid site for such a piece of 'art'.
I suggest that you write to the relevant council or highways dept. to complain.
If enough do then maybe it will be relocated to a better site i.e. the nearest scrapyard.:)
'Oh no, wait a minute' they'll probably wait until there's been a thousand RTA's or someone gets killed.:freak3:

Actually, I think they'll wait until 4 people are killed or seriously injured...

That is bloody silly positioning.

Lum, loving your work!
