05 STI PPP availability.
 

My dealer has told me it takes 10 days to get the PPP for an 05 STI.

Sound about right?

I only ask because they seemed to be extremely pushy to fit it at 1st service rather than on delivery.When I asked for it to be on the car from new the 10 day problem materialised.:Suspiciou

Don't worry about it. Up until the 1st service you'll be driving off boost with a rev limit of 4000 rpm, so PPP won't make any difference. When - and only when - the engine is properly run in, should you be driving it hard enough to appreciate the PPP.

I thought I read on here somewhere that the PPP helped whilst running in due to the complete lack of any sort of power below 4000rpm on the standard STI.

Anyway,I'm looking forward to the time after 1000miles!!!:norty:

Mixed advice on it tbh. Most people on here will advise getting it fitted at first service although I know prodrive themselves say no need to wait and that PPP will help driveability during running in due to the increased boost at low revs..

From my experience with WRX it was hard enough keeping under 4000 let alone having the additional temptation of PPP ;) and didn't affect me too much not having it.

Also differing advice on here about the need to keep under 4k anyway during running in with most people saying just keep it sensible and don't go too mad.

At the end of the day I don't think it makes much difference - 10 days for PPP sounds about right I would say anyways.. :)

I think its pretty harsh to say you have no power at all under 4000 revs. The car will still feel quick even when restricting yourself for the running in period. It isnt the end of the world anyway is it, 1000 miles aint far.

I posed the same question back in december - Dealer decided there were delays in ppp, no delays apperently from the replies I got. Anyway I waited until it was fitted and the car is very drivable with it on although I must agree with other posts on here and my original, that it is v. difficult not playing with the power! Have managed 750 miles so far so not long to go! Enjoy the car it's a blast!
